Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Drove to Staci's house dark and early w/o getting lost...so proud of myself! :)  We ran on the JRP southward from Thanksgiving Point.  She showed me the detour around the 2100 N trail closure.

The rain last night made it humid and intensified the smells of the farm country.  The sunrise was spectacular!!!  We literally saw silver linings on the clouds over the mountains with glorious orange and soft pink sun rays peeking through.  I love living in Utah.  Lots of migrating ducks and geese flying over head.  The parkway was busy with boy scouts,  lots of cyclists and a few runners.   Felt tired around mile 10 so took a gu and revived shortly after.   A nice easy chatty run.  AP: 9:48.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE RUNNING!!! :)

I can't believe you can keep logging and racing so many miles. You are my hero! Another fantastic day.

From RivertonPaul on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 13:13:07 from 97.49.215.175

Cant wait for you to really taper. Way to get out.

From Smooth on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 13:23:34 from 174.23.218.17

SSF ~ I told Staci about your AG win and Amber's win and of course about the swollen face and the Vodka! PCM'10 makes for great story-telling. Can't wait to see you on Wed. LOVE YOU!

allie ~ I live in Lehi and get lost driving in Lehi! So it was a proud moment for me! :)

Mike ~ Yah right! Check out YOUR mileage and FAST ones too! YOU'RE my hero! THANKS!

Paul ~ You're the marathon king...ya know the drill w/ these marathons right? The *real* taper starts 2 weeks before the *real* race. Sure missed you & the chumps this morning!

From flatlander on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 16:59:31 from 75.223.83.246

Very nice run, what a beautiful morning it must have been. Looks like things are lining up well for Pocatello for you, best of luck with that.

From RAD on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 19:09:00 from 67.172.229.125

You know how to get around the closure in Lehi? I need details!! :) You know that Lehi is my favorite run, and I'm really missing that I can't go down there for my 5 out and back!

You truly are amazing Smooth, you just keep running. I can't imagine a 1/2 marathon distance the weekend after a hard full like PC!

Oh, and I too enjoyed the beautiful sunrise. There seemed to be one big gray cloud that the sun was peeking through, then to look West and see the others with sunlight just on their tops. I like to think I was enjoying the sunrise the same time as you out on our runs this morning :)

From Jon A on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 19:15:33 from 66.182.65.44

Good run Smooth!

I ran around Lehi, Highland, Alpine, American Fork ....... Should have headed to the JRP.

From Toby on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 21:47:19 from 66.133.97.196

Nicely done Smooth! Hope you got a nap today!

From Jason McK on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 21:55:01 from 97.117.53.18

Besides being in good shape, running does give us all the chance to enjoy the great outdoors! Lots of people hate it when the sun comes up, but a sunrise is a beautiful thing!

From Tom Slick on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 15:07:39 from 69.171.174.193

Now whatcha gunna do?

From Rhett on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 18:05:36 from 184.10.153.95

Sounds like a great morning! I LOVE LOVE LOVE running too.

From Smooth on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 19:00:17 from 174.23.218.17

flat ~ thanks! GOOD LUCK to you at Hartford!

Rachel ~ You know how directionally challenged I am! :). It was dark when we ran the detour, then on the way back we ran a different way b/c Staci was running to her church's 5K. But if we put our heads together we can find our way. Can't wait to run with you again. Heard you had a great run w/ Allie, Cal and your sil. someday the entire JRP will completely join up and we can run endlessly together!!! Yes we share the same. Gorgeous sunrise at the same time different JRPs.

Jon ~ Sorry I changed plan last min Staci called and asked me to come run w/ her on her turf. She had a church 5k after we ran 13 together sandwiched in her 18-20 miler. I should have called you two to join us at the JRP. My bad! When Kelly is ready to run, let me know, I want to run with her!

Jason ~ how was TOU half? Going over to read your report now.

Slick ~ I'm going to run the same workout I did before PCM this week, then go up to run another long run at Pokey. Just need to figure out how to get pickles after mile 15. Should be easier than OJ & Vodka right?

rhett ~ I am so excited you had a good 10 miler run with Doone in Cal. Pokey is gonna be so fun! Can't wait to see you and be there for Doone's BQ debut!

From Kelli on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 19:28:13 from 71.219.102.155

OH, I hate the intensified smells of farm country! It sure makes it hard to breathe while running!

Great week little Smooth! We MUST get together for a run sometime soon! Or, better yet, lunch!

From Tom Slick on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 20:04:03 from 69.171.174.205

Yo Smooth - I don't know about a screw drive but at 2010 Boston I stopped twice for a 16 oz beer. It sure was good and it helped me get over dragging my leg down the road. But wait till Boston 2011, it's going to be a totally different story!!!!

From Kelli on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 22:28:45 from 71.219.102.155

WHOA---now we will all be calling you!!

From Smooth on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 23:06:52 from 174.23.218.17

Kelli ~ breathing? hmmm, was talking too much to notice! :D

Yes, we MUST! I miss you like crazy! But you're a working woman now. Tell me when and where and I'll be there!

Slick ~ You meant Boston 2009! This year was not the same without you! Next year you're gonna ROCK Boston. Have you booked your room?

Doone ~ I can't wait to see you BQ in 5+ days! Larry is so excited to be cheering you in.

K, I got your number on my phone. Now delete it so we don't have everyone in the world calling you! :D

From Scott Wesemann on Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 00:15:07 from 75.162.85.220

Sounds like a great run with some excellent views. Not much can beat watching a Utah sunrise.

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 09:19:34 from 71.219.102.155

I have Fridays off and I do not have to be to work until 1:00, so we can always go at like 11.

From Nancy on Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 17:50:21 from 76.27.19.206

I can tell you love running. Nice job finding your way around.

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 31, 2010 at 15:30:30 from 174.23.218.17

Kelli ~ I am good any day...except this Fri we're heading up to Pocatello. We should go somewhere closer to the school so you can make it to work on time. PM me!
