Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Had a long weekend.  The Whipple guy forgot to re-lit the water heaters on Sat. after installing the uber-expensive furnace/AC; so we did not have any hot water.  But the house is now nice and cool.

So glad I didn't have to get up early to catch the bus for DNews.  My running buddies in the ward are all leaving for girls camp this morning.  I text Karen who's back from her vacation to see if she wanted to run.  She had slept in.  So we didn't head out till 7:30, hot, humid and windy!  Had no energy.  Could not get my legs to turn over.  Not sure if it was the 17 milers on Sat or the humidity or what.  I would've quit by mile 5 if it hadn't been for Karen.

Got back in time to say goodbye to the YWs and leaders as they drove out of the neighborhood like a parade!  Dang!  I wish so badly I was going with them.  Stopped to talk with my neighbor for an hour.  So glad I did even though I missed going up to DNews to run friends in.

My baby is leaving the MTC for Taiwan bright and early tomorrow.  I hope he calls from one of the airports.  I am going to be a basket-case!

Oh man, no hot water and son going international...yeah, I think it was more than the 17 miles :) Proud of you for getting out and getting it done even when it was hard. I missed you terribly at the finish line. SO used to being there with you to cheer folks in!

I love camp!! I was lucky enough to get to go up for an evening. I saw on someone's blog that you know the takasaki's. They are some of my parents best friends from the UofU days! And I think you live by me. A couple of my friends that ran UVM said they saw you over by Ivory Ridge running one morning. We should get together for a run :) Good luck to your missionary, I have a sister-in-law who went to that mission. Oh, and I think you're great. Nice run this morning.

Great run...way to push those last 3. I wish I had your drive. Have you heard from your missionary?

Rachel ~ Believe me you! I wish I was there cheering you and all your family in at DNews! You did AWESOME!!!

Nancy ~ I waited and waited and the call never came on Tue when I thought he would from the airport. BUT Alas! He called tonight (Wed.) from Taiwan. :)

Flat ~ Yes, I finally got to talk to him for like 10 seconds tonight. It was a happy surprise!

Carina ~ That is so cool that your parents know Roman. He's a great marathoner and cyclist. His wife, Anne is the best!

I live a block south of Ivory Ridge. It'd be so cool to run into you one of these days! Don't think I can ever run WITH you though! You are way wicked fast! :) CONGRATZ again on taking 3rd overall! You totally ROCK DNews! :)

allie ~ Thanks! He made it safe and sounded happy when he called tonight!

SSF & Dale ~ I love you guys too, lots! :)

bye-wing ~ Yes it was lots of tears as well as laughter. Actually I was glad he didn't call from the airport because I hate good byes. So I was double happy when he called tonight from across the world to let me know he's arrived safely.

Brooke ~ Thanks! I was a cry baby all day.

Kimmy ~ I waited and waited all day yesterday (Tue). Hubby and I were very disappointed because we've heard that all his friends called home from the airport before they left the country.

Then, tonight (Wed.) we got a surprise call from him. We talked for no more than one minute. I am sure he called because his mission president told him to. He is such an obedient boy. He sounded very happy. His mission president is a friend of ours so it was good to hear from him and had him rave about our son. I feel very blessed and content right now! :)
