Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Karen had to take her daughter to gymnastics so we didn't get started until 7:20, by then the temp was already getting up to 70.  Thankfully we had partly cloudy sky most of the way; however it was still warm & windy!  I don't know how people in AZ or TX train in the summer.

I was planning on no more than 11, Karen's schedule was supposed to be 7, we ended up running 12!  Glad I carried Gatorade.  We ran to the Alpine fountain of youth so Karen could get a drink and turned around.  It was a pain running around the construction zones across SR 92 and the canal.  My legs were fried!  Let's see... I ran a downhill marathon 18 days ago and a downhill Half 4 days ago... no wonder they don't like me now!  Ice bathed the legs, ahhh!  So glad the grandkids enjoyed coloring & drawing after lunch so I could *rest*!  :)

What? You're not a machine? Here I was thinking all this time you were just a crazy machine that could run through anything! :) Glad you had a good run, be nice to those legs lady! An ice bath sounds fab right now...SO hot!

I don't like the heat either. I love running when it is in the 40's or even the 30's. Nice run.

Yes, I can see WHY the legs would be tired! But you two must have been having a good time to run so many extra miles!!!

I left just after 8:30, it was not too bad until 10 and then it got hot! And the wind made it worse, my mouth was so dry! Good thing I carried water for a change, HUH?

Are you coming to the RHPC 1/2?

From Smooth on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 22:17:11 from 67.2.109.45

Rachel ~ ummm, crazy yes, machine no, definitely INSANE!!!

Nancy ~ Last week I was running in the 40s at Sun Valley. My body hasn't acclimatized to running in the 70s yet.

Kelli ~ I was so slow it took me over 2 hours. Karen doesn't seem to get as hot as me. If she wasn't there running with me, I'd quit an hour into the run. I am a wimp.

I won't be coming to RHPC 1/2. We are going to be in Cedar City. I tried to talk Larry into letting me run Bryce Canyon 1/2 since we're down that way...so far he's not convinced. My friends, Wendy, Carolyn and Mary are going to run it though. They are getting excited! :)

The clouds came out and it was much cooler. from about 8:30-10 was tolerable, with this nice little breeze. I NEVER run outside in the hot sun, so that is saying something.
