Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

My friends are just so happy that I'm in recovery mode.  They rang my door bell fully expecting me to run with them.  Mary, Wendy, Carolyn and I cheerfully ran together.  It was fun chatting for 3 miles w/ Mary and Wendy and 5 w/ Carolyn; then ran 3.25 by myself.  Legs felt great.  Love the beautiful weather.

look at you running as if you hadn't just run a rockin' marathon! I can picture you and your girl-friend just bee-boppin around on your chatting away :) You are SO awesome, I LOVE your thoughts from yesterday, it's good to look back and analyze. . . you have a wonderful 'bigger picture' about the nature and purpose of running! Thanks for the insight . . . . Great recovery run today, hope the stormy weather doesn't hit too hard up there this week!

Yay for recovery mode! I bet it is a lot more fun with friends to chat with while running slow. I need to find someone to do my recovery runs with. By myself, I just want to run fast.

That's not too shabby for recovery mode. Great work.

Love your profile picture, even more impressed by your smile & finish knowing how much pain you were in right before collapsing. You are a champion!

Sounds like a happy recovery! In case you didn't get my last note: CONGRATULATIONS on Boston. You are amazing. I love that fortune cookie thing. I have always been afraid to try ibuprofen during/before a race, because I'm afraid it would totally mess with my gut. And I hear you about the GUs! I have a limit for those things!

From Tom Slick on Wed, Apr 28, 2010 at 15:53:27 from 168.179.157.104

Hey Smooth...when do you want to go do a run at PRT or on the UVM course with me?

From RAD on Wed, Apr 28, 2010 at 16:12:23 from 67.172.229.125

What a great recovery run! It sounds like the healing from the crazy Boston run is going well! I may be able to keep up with you for a 1/2 mile now :)
