Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

So nice to sleep in!  Foot pain is slightly better.  I can put a bit weight on the heel (with boot on of course).  Still slight edema on the top of the foot.

Arms got a good work out from using crutches when I went visiting teaching yesterday. The non-injured left leg/foot is going to be super strong! :)

Oh SMOOTH!!! I just read your race report from Saturday! I am SO sorry about your foot! and now crutches and boot? ahhh man! this is bringing back some memories for me. . . . I wish our bodies were invincible and unbreakable! You have a great attitude and maybe this rest is just what you need. It's hard tho, especially for a go-getter like you, to be tied down to crutches. Just know I"m thinking of ya!!!!!!

Hi there Amber! THANKS for stopping by. When I pulled out of the race while sitting on a truck's tail gate waiting, my immediate thought was of you sitting and waiting in agonized pain at SGM last year. I am not anywhere near a caliber runner as you and can't even imagine the heartbreaking experience you went through. You inspire so many people. THANK YOU for your concern and support! It means the world to me! :)

I'm glad the pain is easing a bit, I really do hope things calm down for you soon. I already miss you :(

Thanks RAD ~ I am thinking I may need to borrow your boot when I'm ready to do crosstraining. Mine is too high/tall. It hits the back of my thigh when I do the recumbent bike. :)

you know you can have my boot anytime! Just let me know and it is ALL yours...I don't ever want it back :)

Wow I just read your blog from the past week. I am so sorry about the marathon and the injury. You are an awesome runner and I know how hard it is to not run. I hope your foot feel better soon.

Smooth, I'm just thinking how amazingly strong and buff your arms and left foot are going to be after that right foot heals up. :)
