Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Took an ibuprofen last night and woke up feeling decent.  Had a dream that I showed up to run the Riverton 1/2 and everyone was mad at me! Hehe!  Decided to start my run same time as the Riverton 1/2.  Blue sky, sunshine, a little windy (but not like yesterday's GUST).  It was a pleasant run with thoughts of my friends racing at the Half and at Antelope Island and running their 20+ milers.

8.25 recovery in 1:19:15.  AP: 9:54.

***The left ITB and vastus medialis still hurts the same.  It gets better after 3 or so miles.  Strangely the pain comes back if I run in the 10ish  pace but fine between 9:35-9:45.

Off to make myself presentable to meet/greet the General YW Board and the Brethren.

Hope everyone have a WONDERFUL weekend and FANTASTIC RACE!!!

I'm a little mad that you ran as much as you did so you would have been in real trouble if you would have run the 1/2. I have noticed that I have less pain the faster I run. It's just a matter of finding that balance.

It is so fun to see you get faster, stronger and Smoother! I can't wait until the party at Boston! Don't feel bad at all when you leave me in your dust - you earned it!

Nice run Smooth! It was a beautiful day, a bit chilly and windy - but nice all the same. I certainly hope that ITB & VM starts getting better soon!!

I hope you have a wonderful time at conference - your day sounds AMAZING!

Do you have an electronic version of Pfitz's plan or do you just use the book? I copied it into a spreadsheet and think that I did it wrong. I'm also not sure if he updated it in the new version of his book.

SSF!!!! How was the evening??? Rylee said Pres. Uchtdorf's talk was really funny. She liked it (but for a 12 year old she said the meeting was a little bit long). :)

Great recovery run! Hopefully the tapering will help all of your muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, etc, settle down.

I love and miss you already!!! :)

Oh yeah, Andy ... if you want me to scan and then email any of the stuff from the new edition let me know!

Smooth - I looked for you during the broadcast :). . . I was hoping they would scan around and I could see you! How was it meeting and greeting such incredible people? Didn't you love the meeting? (Teena, Pres. Uchtdorfs talk was funny, and perfect for the girls too, he knows how to relate to them!)

HOLY SHMOWSERS your long run yesterday! I am so incredibly, immensely, irreversibly impressed at your dedication to the sport of running! You braved the elements! I had to laugh at your neighbor wondering if you should be out there and you saying, yep 16 mi to go!!! too funny! you know they think you are crazy. . . .and they are kinda right in a way !! hee hee, but seriously, great job for getting your long run in even with crappy weather! Boston, , here she comes!!!!

Nice job Smooth!

Great job with all your running. I missed seeing you at the Riverton 1/2 but I would have only seen you from behind because I am getting so slow. That is so neat that you got to meet all the General YW board and go to the meeting downtown.

Andy ~ Hope you've forgiven me by now! SO HAPPY your 22 miler was AWESOME and the achilles didn't bother you 'till the end.

Kathie ~ THANKS for the kind words! I HIGHLY doubt I could EVER "leave you in the dust"! I just hope I can keep up with you! It's almost party time! SO EXCITED!

Rachel ~ It was an amazing day, long, but so worth it!

Hi there Melanie ~ I'm your secret admirer! Hope to meet you in person one day. We are practically neighbors!

Andy ~ I have both of Pfitz's 1st and 2nd editions. I just checked the 70/18 schedules...both are almost identical especially in mesocycle 3 - Race Preparatioin. Mesocycle 4 has the same workouts just couple miles less in those tapering weeks. Would you like me to email the schedule to you?

SSF & Amber ~ It was an AWESOME day spending time w/ the YWs. You can tell the change in their countenance over these 6 weeks. Prez. did a wonderful job speaking to the girls in the choir loft. I got to watch the rehearsal, all the behind the scene stuff that went on in putting this wonderful Broadcast. It was great to listen to Sister Dalton and Elder Anderson spoke. We got to meet all the Auxiliary presidencies, and the GAs and had lunch with them. I am sure the girls would never forget this experience. It was a LONG day.

We sat in the very front section on the plaza during the General YW Mtg. The whole Conference Center was packed with giggling and chatting girls. Then all of a sudden it went completely quiet as we all stood watching the Prophet and his counselors entered to take their seats. You could hear a pin drop. Some of the girls were crying. We were so proud of our girls singing their testimony and expressing their love and conviction to the Savior. Pres. Uchdorf was so funny, so personable. The spirit was so strong there. The ladies in the General Auxillaries are just WONDERFUL WONDERFUL women!

Nancy ~ I missed the Riverton 1/2. It was there that I met you, your friends and your beloved dog. I heard it was a great day for all who ran and the course was even better. May be next year!

Man, you have friends in high places!!!

So, did you go to the YW meeting as well?
