Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Wahooo!!!  Clear BLUE SKY!!!  :)  My FIRST winter run of the year!!!!  :)  I was SO excited!!!  We (Wendy, Karen {Sky} and I) bundled up with fleece tops, beanies, ski mittens, wool socks and tights; then headed out for some fresh air and Vitamin D. :)  Temp was in the low 20s but the north wind made it a bit chilly.  My face was too numb during the first mile to talk so I just listened as my dear friends get caught up on each others' lives! :)  We had to walk on some icy patches...but the rest of the road/trail/sidewalk was either clear, wet, crunchy peanut brittle snow or soft cornstarch snow.  Turned around at the west end of the Canal Trail facing the east sun and mountains was heavenly!  Hope the inversion stays away! :) :) :)

Myrtle 15 reps.  3 circuits of Pfitzinger's CSE (30 reps/30 sec.) along with Teena's bridge and Flanagan's stability ball planks (10 reps)!

Sounds rejuvenating after the yucky inversion. Glad you could have your first winter run. :)

I am doing the Orphan Hope Marathon this year. My goal is to run 30 for my 30th. Any suggestions for the trail course?

Hey Bec ~ I just checked out the LOVE RUN Marathon a minute ago. You will love it. I wish I could be there for your 30th birthday run! :)

K, the course is in forest trail. My favorite is the straight stretches with soft dirt, pine needles and trees on both sides. My least favorite part was the up and down winding portions where you have to watch for roots/tree branches and a few stretches of bogs/swamps. Just keep your feet moving (lift up your feet) and look ahead (not down). There is also one stretch that is next to the lake that can get windy and cold. Some aid stations are 3 miles apart. I wish I had a handheld bottle as I got pretty dehydrated. The Huntsville State Park is very pretty. Have fun! :)

Oh the joy and gratitude in my heart as I got to enjoy the clear skies, mountains and SUN! I'm glad you got out to enjoy it as well. Nice work on the run and enjoying it with some amazing people :) Miss you!

I hate it when my face is so cold I can't talk properly. I hope you get some more clear skies. Still sounds way to cold to run outside to me though.

If it weren't for the blue skies and good friends this might have been a sad run....
