Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

The day began with a picture text of a new-born baby and the message "Happy Birthday" on my cell phone!  My daughter gave birth to her 4th child at 6:45 this morning!  He wasn't supposed to be born 'till Jan 30th 2011.  At 35 weeks, he weighed 6 lbs.  He has difficulty breathing so they put him on CPAP.  They won't let him be held or fed so he's on IV.

Fun day skiing with the fam.  Made 20 runs on Moonbeam and Sunrise.

Dinner at Red Maple, a full course Chinese seafood gourmet!  :)

14 EZ TM miles while watching Lost.

Ski day again!  Sunny, perfect condition.  A power outage stopped all the lifts for 20 min.  The chair I was on was the next to be uploaded; darn luck!  Hubby was the only one not stranded on the lifts.

Early dinner at Texas Roadhouse.

Booked my tickets to Houston.

13 EZ TM miles in the evening watching Lost.

Hubby's right ankle is very sore.  He can't even put weight on it.  With the huge blizzard going on, we opted to not go skiing today.  Busy all day w/ taking care of post-Christmas cleaning and tending to hubby.  Hate to see him in pain! :(

Baby Jett is off CPAP, my daughter held him for awhile; although his respiration is still rapid so he's NPO and still on IV.  Can't wait to see him next week!

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!!!

The wind finally stopped mid-morning and got a bit of sunshine!  Poor hubby couldn't do anything but sat with leg propped up.  I almost hit someone on I-15 tonight coming home from the hotel/family party.  The person was crouched beside a disabled vehicle on the right lane where there is zero shoulder (stupid road construction)...very scary!!!

2010 was a good year!  I ran 2770 miles, 6 marathons (BQ'd in 5 of them) and 1 ultra, placed in my AG in a handful of races.  I had a lot of fun running with many great friends making wonderful memories!

THANK YOU ALL for being such awesome people and important part of my life!!!!  Here's wishing y'all a FANTASTIC 2011!!!!

No matter how late I went to bed, I automatically woke up the same time, no sleeping in, but did lay in bed thinking wonderful thoughts and dreams of a promising 2011.  I truly have a lot to be grateful for.  Finally got up to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for David who's driving 10 hours back to college.

Hubby's foot and ankle is more swollen today.  After getting him up, wrapped his foot/ankle, and situated nicely in front of the TV.  I text my SSF and RAD to see if they have already left for the Olympic Oval, a place I've never ever been to before.  Just as I was pulling out of the garage, RAD called and arranged to meet me on Bangerter and she would drive me to the Oval.  HALLELUJAH!!!!

RAD is right: good things come to those who sleep in!  We got to the Oval just as Maurine was leaving.  Sweet Maurine loaned us her "counter", a very efficient way to count laps.  THANKS Maurine!  Although RAD had conjured up a very clever "loose your marbles" system to count laps.  She figured we would need to run 55 laps to complete 15 miles.

We got there in time to see Teena and Matt running effortlessly and speedily by.  Thanks to their expert math skill, we were confirmed that 55 laps indeed make 15 miles.  SO FUN to chat and run w/ Rachel and my SSF!  I cannot think of a better way to run the first run of 2011 than with these two special special special friends!  THANK YOU RAD & SSF!!!

Update on grand baby:  He is still in NICU but improving.  He is off tube feeding and taking breast milk in a bottle.  Hopefully he'll be able to nurse tomorrow and off TPN.  His respiration is stabilized!  I hope he'll be home when I arrive next week! :)
