Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!! 

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

HAPPY PIONEER DAY!

Hubby and I talked about the 4/1 run/walk ratio that Lowell and I did for the Sogonapmit and PE50.  He wanted to give it a try today.  We started by walking one min. then running 4 min.  He started out running too fast and quickly fizzled out.  :)  Turned around at the trail tunnel by Smith.  There are two huge banners/signs warning people not to trespass the not-yet-completed Murdock Canal Trail, violators will be ticketed and fined.  Hubby being a law-abiding citizen, refused to go on the trail; so we turned around heading back west. 

My pace was in the mid 9s and hubby's was in the high 10s so I would run 3 min. then turn back to meet him (usually at about 25-30 sec) to finish up the 4 min run so that I could tell him when to walk and give him water.  It was getting really warm.  It was a good incentive to run to Jimmy John's for some ice and refill the water bottle.  Perfect timing as we walked to the store.  Hubby felt revived and agreed to go to 500W instead of head straight home.  Saw Leanne walking when we walked out of the store, chatted for a min.  We then continued the same 4/1 with me running ahead 3 min and back to get hubby the 4th min and walked together for 1 min.  Hubby was happy to be done when we reached home at mile 5.5.  Got in the house to get a swig of gatorade, refilled the water bottle, take the Gatorade out to hubby; then headed back west around the two blocks for another 2.5 miles of steady running. 

I think the Elixir 6 in size 6.5 is smaller than the Inspire7 of the same size.  I have bought two pairs in sz 6.5 and one in sz7.  I think I will train in the size 7 and use the sz 6.5 for short runs and everyday walking...because I like the Elixir so much better than the Inspire.
