Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!! 

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Was going to run 9 with 4 at tempo pace.  Temp was in the high teens, windy.  The thought of my sons in the cold midwest made me appreciate Utah's winter.  Pulled on my trusty UnderArmour subzero mock turtleneck, insulator tights, therma fit jacket, headbands and gloves.  

The roads in the subdivision were not plowed so I stayed on the main roads.  Right away I abandoned the tempo run idea.  It was too windy and there were icy stretches.   Had to cut my run short because my fingers started to hurt.  Note to self:  wear mittens instead of gloves in this kinda weather.  It began to snow horizontally for the last two miles.  I think I got about 6 miles at marathon pace.

8.25 miles in 1:14:08.  Average pace:  8:59.  HR: 166.  Arthritis: 6.   Asthma: 3.  Splits: 9:39, 9:14, 8:50, 8:56, 8:43, 8:50, 8:55, 8:45, last 0.25 mi at 8:43.

I really like my 1080's gloves. They are gloves with a mitten that can go over the fingers or be tucked away. They are really good for regulating heat in the hands.

Kelli - when it starts getting really cold out, mittens have the benefit of holding in more heat. With gloves, you can lose heat from all around the fingers, but the mittens actually build up more heat since all the fingers are together.

I have osteoporosis. I am very scared of the SLIPPERY. I don't mind the cold, but the wind just sucks the life out of me.

Smooth - I get them at Wasatch Running. They used to have some lighter weight and heavier weight pairs.

She's adjusting. She definitely has a comfort zone in her cage that she grew up in. She plays a lot in that. When I take her out she shakes for a while, but likes to snuggle up to me.

Leslie and Harold just came by bearing treats and visiting the pup.

You are so stinkin' awesome Smooth!! Sometimes when I look outside the treadmill doesn't seem too bad. Too bad we weren't neighbors, I would get another treadmill and put it right next to mine so that we could run all of the time!! :)

Hmmm ... maybe I will go do AM/PM yoga right now. Sounds good.

Oh, wouldn't that be fun!!! The best part is I could run my slow pace and you could run your speedy pace and we're never far apart. Then we could cool down by doing yoga before grabbing lunch at your favorite place. :)

What would it take to get you to move by me. That sounds like SO SO SO much fun!! Okay ... perhaps I will work on Ryan!! What kind of commute would he be looking at? (His office is in the Franklin Covey Building by the E center.)

It's two miles from my house to I-15. It takes Larry 35-40 min. to get to his office on 200 S Main. It would take Ryan 35 min max to commute. There are three golf courses close by: Thanksgiving Point (5 min away), Tri-City (10 min away) and Hidden Valley (15 min away). I can go on and on about the benefits of living by me. But you already know the best part. :)
