Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

HI!!! :)

Do you know what the air is going to be like on Saturday?

What time are you guys meeting?

From Teena Marie on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 14:07:15 from 174.27.201.172

I don't think I can come ... but maybe, just maybe ... :) :) :)

From Smooth on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 14:11:50 from 174.27.208.31

SSF ~ I'm afraid the air is not gonna be any better. We are meeting at 8. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it if you can come!

From Andrea on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 14:32:30 from 72.37.244.100

Where on the JRP? We start at 3300S and go south...would we see you at all or are you farther down?

From Teena Marie on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 14:35:18 from 174.27.201.172

SSF~

Ever since I got pneumonia I am scared to death to run outside when the air is bad. I see my asthma doc next week ... I better pass until after I see him. :(

Andrea~

The start is in Lehi ... much further south. :( Usually I would run into you though! I generally run on the parkway starting at Winchester (roughly 6200 S).

From Chad on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 16:25:19 from 168.177.153.27

Sounds fun.

From Kelli on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 19:57:23 from 71.219.80.158

OH, maybe I will come....but the air does freak me out! Scott has asthma so I like to make him stay in when it is that yucky. I have been on the treadmill all week though and I am really wanting to run outside for a change!!!

From Rhett on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 21:52:08 from 74.32.209.119

Wow Smooth, you're training is looking strong. The weather got bad and you just stared mother nature down and stepped up you're training. Good for you.

From Nancy on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 23:27:04 from 76.23.21.118

I only wish I could run that far. I will probably do 6 with my daughter. You really make running sound easy, I wish it was that easy for me.

From JulieC on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 00:10:32 from 71.35.249.158

I think my WORK weekend happens to fall on the Saturday runs that interest me the most!!! I keep missing all the fun!! Wish I could join y'all!! have fun!! yay for 18 miles : D

From Toby on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 12:29:54 from 199.101.230.254

I just dropped my preschooler off and chased down this little Asian lady running. I kept yelling Smooth...Smooth. Finally she took out her ear buds and said, "I think you have the wrong person". I was so sad it wasn't you!!!! I even had an extra water bottle in the car. Have fun on your long run!!!

From RAD on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 12:45:25 from 98.202.23.178

Toby, that totally made me laugh!

Smooth, maybe I will join you Saturday. What time are you planning on starting?

From timp on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 13:27:48 from 144.188.24.32

great week so far, Smooth!

From Smooth on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 17:34:23 from 174.27.214.60

Kelli ~ PLEASE join us. It's your favorite trail!!! :) I think the air quality is better on the Lehi JRP especially the north portion...no traffic, a slight breeze up above the Point. Yesterday I drove down to Orem and then up to downtown Salt Lake. I can definitely tell the difference between the two valleys. I have asthma too so I need to be careful...so far I'm fine!

Rhett ~ thanks! I'm just trying to not loose any fitness with my *winter hibernation + holiday gluttony*!

Nancy ~ running is the only thing I know how to do. I wish I knew how to swim or bike like you do! :)

Julie ~ I don't know how you do it. Running alone or on the TM is so much harder for me!

Toby ~ that just puts a HUGE smile on my face! I would be SO SO SO SO HAPPY if you'd driven by! Wish so badly you'd come run with us!

RAD ~ YES!!! I am so excited. We are starting at 8am. Will that work for you? How many miles do you need to reach the 2011 miles? It is so much funner and easier to have you to run with. :)

Tim ~ Thanks! This week's One last push before the holidays and taper for marathon! :)

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 20:29:40 from 71.219.80.158

WELL, I tried, but Scott really wants to sleep in and how could I argue with that??? So, we will be running, oh, maybe around 10 tomorrow! BUT, I have some days next week (my last teaching day is Tuesday), do you want to run sometime next week???

From Smooth on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 20:40:53 from 174.27.214.60

Kelli ~ I am sure I will still be at the JRP at 10am. You know I run slow and I have to run 18. Wendy and Karen are only running 10 so I still have 8 to run alone! sigh! :)

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 20:42:19 from 71.219.80.158

We should run over the mountain and come find you!

From JulieC on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 20:58:40 from 71.35.249.158

what are you all running on Christmas Eve?

From Smooth on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 21:02:18 from 174.27.214.60

Kel ~ you know where I will be...come rescue me! :)

Julie ~ Christmas Eve? Haven't thought that far. What do you have in mind?

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 17, 2011 at 00:22:03 from 71.219.80.158

I THINK we should have a HUGE party run! We could do it in the Herriman Hills and finish at my house and have a big breakfast!!!! We could run like 50 miles or something!

From Smooth on Sat, Dec 17, 2011 at 17:15:09 from 174.27.214.60

Kel ~ ONLY you have such ambition AND ABILITY to run 50 miles or something!!! :)

I do agree we need to have a HUGE party run! How's about next Sat.! Plan is underway for a Christmas Eve Party Run on the Lehi JRP. A few of us are already IN!!! RAD agrees to bring hot cocoa and donuts! :)

JulieC ~ Here's the plan for Christmas Eve. 8am at the Lehi JRP 1500N bridge. You are not working that day right? It will be SO FUN!!!! :) Can hardly wait! :) :) :)

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 17, 2011 at 17:49:44 from 71.219.80.158

I like the plan to run together, but don't you guys think it would be fun to run from someone's house so that afterward we hang and chat a bit without freezing our tushes off????

No worries, i have no intention of running 50 miles in one day. I am barely running that in a week right now!

Hope your run went well, we did run ALMOST to Lehi this morning! I was thinking about how you were done and I was just starting!!!!

From Andrea on Sat, Dec 17, 2011 at 18:54:33 from 67.177.21.60

I would totally join in on this party run for Chrismas Eve! But going to TN...I wonder if we could have another party run on New Years Eve?!

From Smooth on Sat, Dec 17, 2011 at 19:47:01 from 174.27.196.172

Kel ~ the house-no-freezing-tushes is a great idea...but group run on roads/traffic is tough plus everyone might have different distance. I am willing to host the party at my house. We have lots of wide road and trails within a mile from my house. Whaddaya think?

Andrea ~ NYE Party run sounds fun too! I know some of the bloggers are running the Oval challenge at the Olympic Oval in Kearns that morning.

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 17, 2011 at 21:42:28 from 71.219.80.158

I am good with whatever! We could do my house also and run on the wide open roads of the unopened highway! We could run 20 wide and be totally fine!

Whatever everyone votes, I am in!

I am all for a New Years run as well! We should do it at midnight. ;o) KIDDING.
