Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

 15 weeks to Boston!!!

Ran in NEW shoes!!!  LOVE the "shoes-still-in-the-box-smell"! :D

Schedule says: GA + speed (9mi w/ 10x100m strides).  Never really know how to do that! :)  Just kept a moderate effort after couple of warm up miles and threw in a few strides running on the double yellow lines on Bull River Rd.

Felt the same pain in the left vastus medialis around mile 3.  Have had that off and on during mileage build-up in my last training cycle.  No biggie!

Got a blister on top of the right 4th toe.  Probably from the tongue of the new shoes.  Note to self:  tape that toe good for tomorrow's run. :)

wow...15 weeks until Boston? That just sounds crazy to me!! I'll be 75% cooked by then :)

Take care of those little aches lady! We can't have anything breaking down at this point. STAY healthy and keep up your amazing runs!

NICE JOB!!! And yeah for the new shoes. I need some new shoes, what was that website again??? And what are my shoes called??

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 04, 2010 at 17:40:54 from 174.23.217.47

Kelli ~ the website is runningwarehouse.com. But you may want to check out Amazon.com and eBay as well.

I think your shoes are the Mizuno Inspire 5. I bought two pairs from Amazon.com and one pair from ebay. They're the 2009 models (Inspire 5) I paid 40-50% off retail!!! :) The 2010 Inspire 6 on runningwarehouse are going for $100 free two days shipping.

From Kelli on Mon, Jan 04, 2010 at 17:48:38 from 71.219.96.112

THANKS!!! I am on the hunt for some shoes, I will never pay retail again!

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 04, 2010 at 18:00:20 from 174.23.217.47

Hey the Mizuno Inspire 5 are selling for $59.88 for two pairs or $69.88 for one pair at runningwarehouse. I like their free 2days shipping.

How come they only have the new shoes in pink? I want pink shoes so bad, darn it. I guess next year when they are not NEW anymore!!!! Thanks, I ordered a new pair of shoes.

Nice run smooth. I don't even know what or where the vastus medialis is, but I hope yours get feeling better:)

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 04, 2010 at 23:43:01 from 174.23.217.47

Hey Mack! The vastus medialis is one of the quads muscles. It's at about 4 o'clock from the knee. I seem to get that pain when mileage goes up. That and the ITB on the same leg really bugs when I do hill or speedwork.

Looks like a great run. You keep scaring me with all this Boston countdown. 15 weeks sounds so close.
