Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran all over the Kingwood Greenbelt Trail system.  The first couple miles ran w/ two groups of ladies.  One girl told me about the Kingwoodfit.com site for group runs...might check it out for next week. :)

Ran to Kingwood Lake (part of Lake Houston), to trail north of Kingwood Dr.(Royal Forest) to Golf Course to Woodland Hills Dr. to Deer Ridge Park to River Grove Park to KingWood High's FFA Science Center and baseball fields to trail south of Kingwood Dr (Trailwood Village) to Royal Forest Dr with last mile on King Manor north loop.  Beautiful paved trails in wooded forest of oaks and pines and lake view.  Took about 11 pics w/ my cell phone.

Perfect running temp (high 40s/low 50s, but feel cooler in shaded forest) saw lots of local walkers and runners all wearing tights, l/s tops and jackets.  It is winter here afterall. I, the Utah, wore running skirt and s/s top.  Hand carried one water bottle, gu'd at mile 9 and 14.

18 in 2:54:54.  AP: 9:42.  Splits: 10:44, 10:45, 10:04, 9:45, 9:22, 9:40, 9:38, 9:19, 9:36, 9:54, 9:05, 9:15, 9:20, 9:45, 9:40, 9:41, 9:44, 9:24.

Going to Jade's first b-ball game!  :)

Hi Smooth! (This is Brooke) What a great run! :) How do you all of you guys add more pictures to your blog? I would like to do that.

From Smooth on Sun, Jan 09, 2011 at 11:42:52 from 67.232.119.27

Hey Brooke! WELCOME to the blog!!!! :) :) :) You cute girl, so glad you're *here*!

K, to post pictures:

1. Download your pics from your computer to photobucket.com or some other website that manage your pictures. It is free. It will have a list of links under the pictures, i.e. URL. html and such.

2. Click the URL to *copy* it (I click the *direct link* one).

3. While posting, click on the icon that has a landscape. A command window will pop up. Paste the URL on there. Click the *preview* button to make sure it's the right one and size. Then click *ok* (I think) to post. That's it! Some apps will let you click on the corner of the picture once it's posted and you can drag it to re-size it. Happy picture posting! :)

Now I need to figure how to post pics from my cell phone!

Paul ~ Thanks! You had a great run in Maui! Very jealous! How's the achilles?

Bec ~ Yes, I am enjoying the warmer temp of 50s and 60s...perfect running weather.

How are you doing? I haven't checked on you forever!

SSF ~ I thought so too b/c the last time I was here, back in Dec 2009, I was the only adult tending the children while their parents were on a cruise; so I couldn't run much. It's working nicely this time. Miss you!

Slick ~ Are you getting super excited about Boston this year?!!!

What an amazing run! 18 miles to boot, and here I thought your knee was bothering you and you were going to take some time off :) Do you need a visit from HELGA?!?

I'm glad you are enjoying the family and getting some time to yourself out in the wonderful weather as well.

Sounds like you are having a great time! How is the baby? Kiss his baby toes for me...baby toes are the best!

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 10, 2011 at 22:38:14 from 67.232.119.27

Rachel ~ I am paying for it now! My knee started to hurt around mile 13 then it got worse all day and is still hurting. Yah, HELGA should've come to stop me!

Flat ~ I haven't really found a group. I just *ran* into them!

Kathie ~ Baby Jett is soooo cute!!! I am getting too attached! I will kiss his toes or you! :)
