Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

ZERO running, NADA!!!  The knee was hurting yesterday late afternoon and evening.  I iced it numerous times and did some light stretching.  The quads were unhappy this morning! Man, I'm a wrack! :)

20 min of P90X ab-rippers.  30 min P90X stretch.

Had a wonderful lunch with my favoritest people!  Then went to my SSF's.  She worked magic on my leg.  I am going to be a good girl so all her hard work will not go to waste! :)

Note to self:  diligently stretch and roll the tight muscles!

I think you were very smart not to run today. Give your knee and good rest.

From Teena Marie on Tue, Feb 01, 2011 at 21:53:45 from 67.2.102.13

Alas, I was able to spend some time with my SSF!!! Much needed ... much appreciated!!!

Love you!

Glad you didn't run today. :)

How much pain did she put you through? You are so lucky to have her work on you. You will be better in no time

Nancy ~ Why is it so hard to be *smart*?

SSF ~ :) :) :) :) Love you too!

I forgot the book! Hmmm...Another excuse to get together again soon! ;)

Kathie ~ Man, you'd never know such a tiny little thing like Teena can be so tough and strong and inflict so much pain on my big'ole legs! She actually went *soft* on me when I started to scream. On the other hand, she got no mercy from Ry and she loved it. :) (I'm talking about PT stuff, don't get any wrong idea!) Why some people loves pain is beyond me! I am a WIMP!!! :P

Yes, I'm the luckiest girl! She offers her service to Andy too...he's either too shy or wimpy, nah, just too shy!

I hope you're right,,,b/c I seriously have zero patience! I want to be better NOW! :)

Dang, I missed the lunch. All the emails were in my junk email folder.

Hope that knee starts feeling better.

Good job Smooth, don't ever feel bad about resting! I'm so glad you did. It takes a lot of guts to just sit it out especially when there's the pressure from the blog to put in the miles, etc.

Good pacing yesterday! :)

Nice work Smooth! I know how hard it is to take that rest day, but it sounds like your body more than needed it. Still bummed I missed lunch :(

Way to take care of yourself Smooth! So smart but so hard to do, , , you are lucky to have Teena to help out with her magic :) Wishing you some speedy healing in the knee!

From Rhett on Wed, Feb 02, 2011 at 15:25:18 from 74.32.210.125

My knee pain seems to be coming from quad issues as well. I used KT tape on my quad before my run this morning and I think it helped. Good luck figuring it out. When you do, let me know. Maybe it will help me as well.

Dale ~ We missed you at lunch! Sorry about the email bummer! Next time!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

Brooke ~ I just LOVE how amazingly patient and positive you are! I have ZERO patience and really STINK at xtraining...not to mention severely addicted to running! :)

Rachel ~ Sorry we missed you at lunch! Hope baby and little D are feeling better today so you can do your planned TM run!

Hi there cute Amber ~ Thanks! I need some speedy healing real soon 'cause Boston is just 10 weeks away, yikes!

Rhett ~ Teena and I were looking at some KT taping to support the quads and knees on You-tube. I think I will tape my knee up next time I run in shorts.

Callie ~ THANKS!

Brooke ~ Thanks for checking on me! I had no self-control today...I RAN! It was more for my sanity (or lack thereof) than anything! O well, hope I don't pay for it later! My son said I like to live on the edge! Haha! :)
