Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Those are some good miles for a recovery run. Great job this week.

From Smooth on Fri, Feb 12, 2010 at 18:31:43 from 174.23.239.148

THANKS Jun! I was supposed to do 7; but got just a little carried away. Nothing like your marathon run in ONE busy day though! :)

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Feb 12, 2010 at 18:56:15 from 66.239.250.209

Smooth, I was thinking about you when I was dying on the TM last night after 5 miles. I was thinking "This is killing me and Smooth would just be getting warmed up at 5" :) Thanks for the inspiration. Nice miles this week.

From Smooth on Fri, Feb 12, 2010 at 19:02:44 from 174.23.239.148

Scott ~ I'm glad my "stubborness" somehow helped. It's tough to run at night after a full day's work plus having a cold...you done GOOD!!! And yes, most days it takes me that long to just warm up; that's why I don't do 5Ks, hehe! :)

I am having a date night too! My husband and I are actually in the same state for once.

Nice run you deserve the recovery after your big miles this week.

From Smooth on Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 01:25:08 from 174.23.239.148

Kathie ~ We went to Market Street Grill; then came home to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony instead of to the movies. How was your date night?

Julie ~ My legs really needed that RR. Good ZZZzzzs are hard to get though. Hope you're getting some ZZZzzzs yourself, you work too hard and not enough sleep. Don't know how you do it!!!

From Teena Marie on Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 02:00:51 from 174.52.45.85

Hope you had a great date night!!! :)

I watched them too. So fun. Love the opening snowboarder moment!! Vancouver is so beautiful.

From LuzyLew on Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 13:58:52 from 69.169.167.157

watched the opening ceremonies and thought of you! my daughter has all the clocks in the house set for 1:00 so she won't forget to watch. Hey, we need to set up some long run dates/plans. What do you say? I need to understand my Boston run schedule a bit better (maybe you can explain the speedwork?). Once you get a day you can come down here, or plan a long JRP, please let me know. XOxo! Happy year of the tiger tommorrow!

From Smooth on Sun, Feb 14, 2010 at 00:20:21 from 174.23.239.148

Luz ~ Happy year of the tiger to you too!

I'm having so much fun watching speed skating and the women moguls at this moment. WOW, they have great knees. The Japanese women are SOOO CUTE!

OK, Yes, we need to get together for a long run. Where are you at on your long run schedule? I have a 15 miler next Sat (20th), then a 22 miler on the 27th. I sure can use your company and yes to chat about Boston. Now it's the perfect time to get in some speedwork once a week.

Just let me know when and where next Sat. and I'll try to make it. I'm so excited to see you! :)

From LuzyLew on Mon, Feb 15, 2010 at 15:46:01 from 69.169.167.157

Were'nt those skiiers the best? I loved that a Utahn took the Bronze! Their energy, drive, and skill were so inspirational. But all I could think about were their knees the whole time....torn ACL, bump, bump, bump. I have 16 miles next Sat so joining up would be perfect. I need to run some of this by Catherine--my daughter babysits for her girls and she can't be far from home, so I need to let her know I'll be coming your way in case she can't come. I'll contact you during the week about the staring point. You're going from 15 to 22? Huh? I'm still working on >13! I'll PM you during the week. I want to bring my schedule to you so you can explain it to me (including the stuff like 3x100, Hill, 1:40--I have no idea what that stuff means.....). I'm excited to join you next Sat.
