Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

 3 weeks 'till Boston

Warm up 5 miles with Karen.

Then without pause, got right into 5 x half mile repeats @ 5K race pace w/ 1/4 mi jog between.  Running east and west on 3200N,  interval 1, 2, and 4 were with headwind...sucking wind and wheezing!!!  3 and 5 with tailwind...NICE!!!  Didn't get splits for the intervals except for the last one at 3:54.

Cool down 1.25 mi @ mp.

10 in 1:34:24.  AP: 9:26  (10:18, 10:27, 9:59, 9:51, 9:55, 8:22, 8:32, 8:21, 8:33, 9:01)

So glad I got it done and beat the storm!!!  :)  It's a howling and snowing out there now!!! BUSY week doing wedding stuff, bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law, my boy has a concerto solo performance, etc. etc. etc.  :)

Did you get Mark's message yesterday?

From Rhett on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 16:53:39 from 74.36.33.52

Nice work pushing yourself to the "sucking wind and wheezing" state. I think you are going to be way more prepared for Boston than you think you are.

From Smooth on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 17:00:59 from 67.2.86.209

Kristi ~ YES! I got his message! I am SO BUMMED that I have to miss it! Bryan is performing a concerto solo with the Symphony on Wed night at the Y. It is a big thing that he practiced so hard and had to audition for. All his cousins and family will be there. I just feel horrible that I have to miss Mark's most joyous and important event. Please know that I am SO SO SO SO HAPPY and EXCITED for you two! I will be there in spirit! Sending love and happy thoughts your way!

Rhett ~ I so not enjoy running in a wheezing state. Oxygen deficit is not my cup of tea. My fitness is not where it needs to be. I really have no expectation for Boston other than finish without further damage to the knee! :) How about you?

From Rhett on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 17:31:17 from 74.36.33.52

Smooth, that is my expectation too and to have a ton of fun. Actually I'm thinking about asking Kathie if she wants a pacer. Her training has gone well and I think I could help pace her to a fast time.

From Rhett on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 17:34:01 from 74.36.33.52

BTW Smooth, did you read on the Forum that Lark is going to come to Boston and run now?

From Rhett on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 17:43:11 from 74.36.33.52

Smooth, I like a stalker on your blog today.

Is Larry going to pick us another memorable time and place for church on Sunday? I'd vote for doing it in the late morning or early afternoon, so I can sleep in and go out for a nice breakfast before church.

From Kathie on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 17:47:34 from 97.126.209.130

Rhett that would be great, however I am questioning Boston all together.

Smooth great run!!!! I love running with you and today I thought of you a ton on my run! You are just the best friend anyone could have!

I vote for late Church too so we can sleep in and eat brunch!!!

I should be going to Boston this year hmmph! :( aww it's okay, I didn't register quick enough.

Nice mileage Smoothie Smooth!

From Smooth on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 17:50:24 from 67.2.86.209

Rhett ~ Kathie would LOVE it if you pace her to a fast time! She is training so well and ready for a PR! I was hoping she would move back a coral to start with me. She mentioned she'd like to do that last week.

No, I haven't got on the Flyers Forum. I think that is AWESOME that Lark is going to run Boston. With the no deferment this year, that's probably good to get one more Boston under the belt!

K, I will get Larry to find us Sacrament time in the early afternoon. Lowell mentioned he wants to join us for Sac. meeting. I want to sleep in and check out that Blessings of the Athletes in the Old Church!

You can be a stalker on my blog any day, Bish! :)
