Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I was going to take up Rhett's offer to REST today.  But I couldn't resist the temptation of  PERFECT weather and one more chance to try on the Boston wardrobe.

Plan says to run 5 mi w/ 6 x 100m strides.  After couple of warm up miles,  I changed my mind to see how marathon pace feel.  After couple of mp miles, I eased off the pace but found that the vastus medialis hurts worse in the high 9's so get back on a comfortable pace (around 9 mm) to finish a 10K in 56:12.  AP: 9:04  Splits:  9:29, 9:28, 8:46, 8:41, 8:55, 9:06, (0.2 @ 8:47)

Off to go shopping, laundry, etc. etc.  Dinner with Pres. Samuelson tonight.  Oh, I just sent in my St. George Marathon registration.

******

Sidenote:  My brother-in-law, Gary Lew, is flying in from Hong Kong tomorrow to run the Salt Lake City Marathon on Sat.  Cheers Cheers to my speedy bro.! :)

Cheers to your speedy Bro! you're going to miss him? What a bummer! But tell him you'll show him your laurel wreath later :) Hey! I got the bus tour at 2:00. I have no idea where to catch it. I'll bet you guys won't even make it to the expo between getting off the plane, getting selttled at the hotel, and getting to the tour. Maybe we should just plan to meet at the tour? Be sure to call me once you hit the ground in Boston. I'll be in the city by the morning taking my kids around the city until you come. Have a wonderful dinner with Pres. Samuelson tonight!

Hey Smooth. Nice run, but you didn't put any miles in the little mile fields up top.

You're going to do great in Boston. I'm anxious to hear all about it.

Good luck to your bro-in-law. He is one speedy dude!!!!

Now, get some rest.

Luz ~ YAY! I'm glad you got the tour. Here's the info from the website:

We offer a choice of two departures: Saturday at 2:00 pm or Sunday at 10:00 am. Our motorcoaches depart from in front of the Sheraton Boston which is next door to the Hynes Auditorium which hosts the Expo. The tour usually takes three hours and is guided by local marathon runners who know the course, the history and some stories of the world's oldest 26 miler.

There is also a Boston Marathon Trivia Contest with prizes sponsored by Adidas.

Hey, with all your history read ups, you may win some prizes!

Our flight arrives at 9:45am. We plan to hit the expo at 11am. I will call you. I have made reservations (for 12-14 people at 6:15pm) to 3 Chinese restaurants within walking distance to our hotel, Radisson 200 Stuart St. We are meeting everyone in the lobby at 6pm and walk to the restaurant together. It may rain Sat. evening, so prepare for that.

Hopefully I'll see you at the expo, if not we'll plan on catching the tour bus together. Can't wait to see you!

Smooth, your miles aren't recorded. I thought MAYBE you were playing another April fools joke. Or were you having a good dream about running?

From Smooth on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 14:23:24 from 174.23.237.236

Thanks Carolyn, I'll go back and enter the data!

Dale ~ Thanks! Bummer I don't get to see Gary. Haven't talked to him. I'm sure he'll run another sub-3.

Smooth, you are going to do so well in Boston. I'm looking forward to reading your report. Have fun!

From Andy on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 17:19:41 from 199.190.170.31

I'm assuming that you are going nice and easy tomorrow then no running until the marathon. Nothing left to do now except keep your legs fresh. Make sure you get a lot of sleep tonight. It is one of your last chances to get a good, full night's sleep.

From Mack on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 17:51:15 from 71.111.186.66

Good luck in Boston Smooth!! I know you are going to do great. Can't wait for the report!

THANKS Scott, Jefferey, Mack and Paul! You guys are wonderful! What will I ever do without your great support and encouragement!?!!

Andy ~ I was thinking the same thing...my last chance to get a good nigh sleep. No such luck! :) Got a text message from Teena at 12:30am and again when she was at Atlanta at 4am and again when she arrived at Boston! Not complaining, just funny how the SSFs are so connected. I should have just flown with her and Ry! :)
