Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

It was supposed to be a recovery easy run.  The 20mph NNE wind at Boston must have followed me all the way to the Lehi Bench.  The run turned into a "trying to stay upright normal running form" training run.  Man, what's with the wind?!!!

It felt great to be running with no time goal, just me and my reflective thoughts of Boston and upcoming Ogden marathon and going to see my new grandbaby girl in Iowa.  The lawns in the neighborhood have turned a vibrant green, tulips and daffodils are everywhere.  I love Spring.

Look at you running MP miles already. I guess Boston didn't effect you much.

When I ran outside today it was so beautiful. I thought of you and how you would describe it. I tried in my blog but I gave up... I just am not good and writing how i feel unless I can use word like puke pace and EZ (is that a word?)

From Smooth on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 22:14:28 from 71.36.71.239

Rhett,

I think all that walking around after the race must have helped. Either that or all the "smart carb-loading" you taught me to do before the race.

Bec,

Sorry about the flight cancellation. That's no fun to not get home when you wanted to. We had a nice 4 hr. lay over at JFK in New York. A nice gentleman took us to the Crown Room with complimentary food galore. We need to plan some group runs again.

Maurine,

Yes ABSOLUTELY! You will BQ and run Boston...why not 2011?

Dale,

THANKS! I don't have tough working schedule like you do...that's how.

Teena,

I did think about flying straight to Iowa from Boston. But I don't have anything ready for the baby. I need to look at my schedule and flights to get there soon though.

It was wonderful having dinner with Lowell and Terry. When I got home there were 3 messages on my home phone answer machine. Lowell called my home # at the Boston start. No wonder we couldn't connect to run together. We wish you were with us. Next year for sure. Please tell him to make reservation at the same hotel as us.

Kelli,

You know how runners are. They are addicted to running! LOL

Rachel,

Have fun on your date! :)

Kathie,

Yes, EZ is a word and one that I love. Puke pace is not in my vocabulary.

Smooth, I can't believe you're already out running so much! I hope I can just walk after the marathon!!! I'm so excited to hear about the race and all the fun you had in person on a nice long run with you!!
