Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Sat. I got home from WBR in the nick of time to attend my nephew's first temple.  He's from Hong Kong and recently received his call to serve in a Spanish speaking mission in California.  I kept dozing off.  Sunday was busy with Father's day family gatherings.

This morning I did an easy 7 miler recovery run, average pace 9:25.

I spent all morning trying to download my pictures.   I am too tired to figure out how to post them here.  I will try again tomorrow.  Got to get ready for a bridal shower for my niece

I just read your race report, I don't know how you did it, I have to admit at my age the thought of all the lost sleep and camping out sounded way too tough for me. You are a kid at heart, and run like one too!!!! Way to go! Another adventure to add to your list!!

Hey Smooth, I just wanted to comment on your wonderful race report. It is sad that I didn't get to see you or anyone else from the blog while I was volunteering. I'm glad you had a good experience. I guess I'm supposed to find some people who want to run the Ultra version in October in Las Vegas. Glad to see you out and having a good day already.

Wow you are really busy! Did you get a run in today?

From Smooth on Tue, Jun 23, 2009 at 14:57:29 from 71.36.75.46

Rachel,

It took us over half an hour just to get out of that crazy congested parking lot at the finish. I hitched a ride home with Brayden's parents b/c my team had to take Lowell to his son's in S.L. Anyway, I broke the fastest shower and get dressed record to make it to the temple. Pres. Smooth was the escort so he was already there with our nephew. Driving to and from the temple alone was scary with sleepy eyes. I did nap a little during the movie. :)

Bec,

Nah, you don't want to be crazy like me! You are the awesome girl here!

Leslie,

THANKS! I tell ya it was a very humbling experience. I might be a kid at heart; but the body doesn't lie. Look at you, you bike and hike and do so many other things so well. I only know how to put one foot in front of the other. :)

Amber,

You're the busy mom, youth conference leader, fun fast girl that I wish I could have been.

I'd love to hear from Staci and meet her too. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine. I live close to IMFlash (formerly Micron). Where does she live?

jun,

That's so AWESOME that you volunteered at WBR. I felt sorry for the volunteers having to put up with all these crazy runners and risk being run over by their SUV's. :) Wish I could have met you.

Hey, you might want to check with Kelli or Walter on the blog and see if they're interested in doing the Saints & Sinners. I think they'd love to run the ultra in Vegas. They love these Ragnar relays. They did the DelSol and WBR this year.

MrsFIT,

THANKS! Was good to see you at Liberty on Fri. You're such a great cheer leader.

Kathie,

Yes, I ran this morning. Just hadn't post it yet. I usually post when I eat lunch.

How fun!! I can't believe you are back running like a crazy woman already!!!

Btw, if you fall asleep during a session are you privy to inspirational dreams??? :)

I love you.

Congrats to both your nephew and niece. :)
