Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Took my sweet time heading out the door.  By 8:00 am the temp was already 83.  Yikes!  That first mile was painful (11:04).  I had lead legs...almost abandoned the run.  Man, wish I knew how to do other cardio Xtrain exercises.

Turning left  onto 12th East, I noticed my left foot fall was noisy while the right was quiet.  Tried for the life of me, pretending I was running on thin ice; but couldn't make it go quiet.   Concentrated on symetrical form and finally fell into an easy pace (9:42).

On the third mile with slight decline, I worked on "tall puppet", instantly the foot falls went quiet.  Saw a girl going the same direction on the other side of the road.   Slowly reeled her in (9:00).

Picturing the Kenyans running with such fluidity,  I did some strides as if kicking my own behind while tucking in the tail, belly button to the spine.   Seeing my own shadow, felt like a real runner, the legs seemed to "cycle" and the push off more powerful.  I was surprised to see the pace quickened quite a bit (8:22).  Wanted to run more but decided to save it for another day.  0.5 mi cool down in (4:30).

Around the world core + fast abs (35 reps).

Swim and exercise in the pool for an hour.

Have to clean 16 windows today!  Thank goodness Steven is home to help me.

Nice workout! Good for you to get in the pool for an hour and try something else besides running.

I saw RAD at the shoe store today... Guess what she bought...Mizuno Inspires, you will be twins now. She looked great at she did strides across the parking lot in her new shoes.

Marion,

Have to clean the windows...we're getting shutters! Hubby keeps giving us all these projects. I was out of town in May, he moved the office to the front room and left me with the old office to clean out. I still haven't done that yet.

Bec,

I should really take swimming lessons. I tried some leg exercises and pretend to swim.

So happy Rachel got the new shoes. I'm sure you treated her very nicely at the store.

What a workout lady! You just never stopped today. I love how as you concentrated on your form the speed picked up - when that happens to me it makes me want to keep good form, it's when the good form seems hard that I want to abandon it! :) I didn't know those were the same shoes you have, I'm sure mine are a little bigger :) I'm trying them out tomorrow.

From Kathie on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 10:24:50 from 207.155.176.10

Great form! I think I will try to picture Kenyans on my next run and see if it will make me faster!

From leslie peterson on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 11:12:18 from 76.23.61.78

YOu are swiming now??? Are you liking it?

New Shutters!!! yay!!! That makes washing the windows worth it!

From Teena on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 11:32:18 from 67.177.20.13

How do the windows look???

8:22!!! YOU ARE SO SMOOTH!!!

(Idea for the newest and greatest t-shirt yet ... "Don't Hate Me Because I'm Smooth." -- Get it??? Have you seen those t-shirts that say "Don't Hate Me Because I Am Beautiful?" Anyway ...)

Can't wait to see you Friday. You in for the family breakfast?

Love you!!

From Smooth on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 13:49:21 from 71.36.65.36

Rachel,

I felt like an elephant during the warm up mile. Thinking about the form helps. Hope you like your shoes. I need to get some new ones too.

allie,

So true. I was thinking about how hot you were running that Devil race last month in 112 degrees. Man alive, I don't know how you did it. I need to get my lazy butt out the door early.

Kathie,

It took a lot of imagination (literally) to picture the Kenyan form.

Leslie,

No, I'm not really swimming. I paddle across the shallow end of the pool, stand up for air and paddle back. I need to take swimming lessons. I'm very afraid of drowning.

Teena,

The windows look smudgy. It's too hot to go clean the outside. The shutters guy's coming tomorrow morning. It's a chore!

LOVE the T-shirt idea! Love it! LOVE IT! But, I'll never wear it.

Thanks for inviting me for breakfast. There might be too many of us though. Lily (Gary's wife) and her kids might be there as well. My plan is to cheer the bloggers and Gary in; then call Lowell to see where he's at and run the last mile in with him. Can't wait to see you on Fri. I'm carrying my phone.

From Teena on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 13:53:31 from 67.177.20.13

Hmmm ... maybe I will follow your lead. Let's see ... who all is running the marathon and in what times?

(what do you mean you won't wear the shirt??? i am getting one made in every color for your upcoming birthday!!! :))

Love you!!!

From Smooth on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 15:03:01 from 71.36.65.36

Just off my bead: Allie (she'll win the women division,), RivertonPaul (3:00ish), Mike Warren (3:15?), Gary plans to run 3:05. I'm guessing Lowell will come in 4:05.

You can wear it (them) then! :-D LLL LLL LLL

From Mike Warren on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 15:09:54 from 207.50.149.221

Smooth, thanks for the good luck wish. I would be more than happy with a 3:15, but maybe a little urealastic for this course. Would like to beat my Ogden time though.
