Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Karen picked me up at 6:15 to meet RAD & her SIL at the Lehi JRP where we unexpectedly met up with Morgan & Dave, 2 young bucks from Karen's ward.  Turned out Morgan (a dentist) is Annette' boss.  Dave ran the Timp Half last Sat and is training for his first marathon at SGM.  I love to run with first-timer...he/she believes the big lies you tell.  It was awesome to hear about Morgan's *eternal dates*, so cool!  I'm gonna tell my *very eligible bachelor boys* the fun ideas of eternal dates! ;) :) :) :) :)

The legs surprisingly felt great despite a long day of moving stuffs up and down the stairs in the afternoon/evening and all morning serving lunch to the homeless.  The GREAT company and chatting made the miles go by fast.  ;) :) :) :) 18 mi AP at 9:19.  Very happy with this run!

Temp was cool at the start and warm up a tad bit even with sunny blue sky,  I did not feel hot when we finish.  Took a nice 15 min ice soak.  Drank from drinking fountain and ate one package of Powerbar chews, drank the whole bottle of water and one can of slimfast.  Had a banana and mini bagel on the drive to the start.

Off to help hubby with the yard then move out the bedroom furniture, FUN! :)

RAD ~ You would pass on the no sleep part for sure! :) :) :) I would flunk the no food part! I LOVE food too much! Everyone knows I eat more than Larry! :)

SSF ~ I missed you tons! so glad you slept in, you needed the sleep! :) But that 20 TM miles got to be a torture!

Last time I ran 18 on the TM I got patella tendinitis and is still battling with it! Hope your leg is ok!

Love and miss you!

Hey there Slickster ~ Only tapering a little. Don't you find that running a marathon a month, you're always tapering? Haha! PCM is a long training run with benefits like all previous PCMs. Good luck with the crazy Curt's 1/2 next week, go and defend your title for the 14th year!

I love reading your blog Smooth! It makes me happy AND it makes me want to run a ton. Oh, your little grandbaby picture is SO cute! Good luck with all the remodeling stuff. Sounds stressful.
