Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Wendy called, she and Beth wanted to do their Sat. run today since they're not running tomorrow, a 12 miler up to Alpine and back.  Asked if I could pace them.  Sure, why not!  I promise them a good workout.   Beth's SGM goal is 4:30.  She ran SF 1/2 in 2:09; so I figure their mp is 10:00.

The first 5.5 miles has a net elevation gain of 250', lotsa 400m rolling hills to practice hill running forms.  Mile 1-4:  Splits: 10:08, 10:10, 10:06. 9:33.  Stopped at an elementary school (mile 3) for water; and at the Alpine city park (mile 5.25) for water and gu.  Beth developed a small blister.  I stopped a runner to ask if she had any bandaid or chapstick.  She didn't; but you should have seen the look on her face when she saw Beth coming from behind me.  Turned out she and Beth were roommates at BYU 20+ years ago and had not seen each other since.  What a joyful reunion.  Michelle will be running her 10th SGM.  We parted with promise of keeping in touch.  I saw an elderly man feeding his dog in the yard.  I went up and asked him for a bandaid.  We sat on the curb to tape Beth's blister, then resume our run going back the same route.   About 0.5 mile later we ran into JonA.  Was FUN to see him!  Mile 5-6 splits:  9:45, 9:49

I challenged the ladies to run the next 6 miles like a 10K.  It should be easy with the first 5K downhill.  The last 5K is flat around our 'hood where we can practice finishing strong.  It was a fun workout.  Splits: 8:01, 8:08, 7:53, 8:08, 8:10, 8:23 (ran back to get the ladies).

Well, I didn't run 13 miles @ mp (9:09) but did run 12 miles in 1:48:20 with an AP of 9:01 and 6 nice tempo miles and good hill practice.  Wendy made Mary a marathon survival kit, along with the pace band I made up for her, we bid her good luck and will see her in 24 hrs. at TOU!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE RUNNING TOU TOMORROW!  Hope to see some of you!

Wow Smooth, you talked as if your run was a "walk in the park". I love it. Enjoy your pacing tomorrow. Should be great weather and lots of action. Sure would like to meet Deana Kastor or Kara Goucher. Or at least see them fly thru the course. I am, however, routing for Allie :DDDDDDD

Smoothie, there is definitely something magical about you. Every time you post your runs, they brighten everyone's day. Oh and I seriously wish I had as much energy as you. You're pretty much running back to back half marathons and it doesn't even phase you. Unbelievable!!! I really hope I see you tomorrow.

Rachel ~ THANKS! Isn't running GREAT! GOOD LUCK tomorrow! BQ here you come!

Julie ~ Too bad you had to work tonight or you could be running up in Logan tomorrow. Deana and Kara don't stand a chance with the high altitude and the downhill making them go too fast and bonk. :) This TOU belongs to Allie. It's on her turf and in her terms.

Dale ~ WOW! THANKS! Never been called magical before. That's so sweet! I hope to see you tomorrow at TOU. Enjoy your "26.2 long training run". Save your speed for SGM. :)

I agree with Dale ... definitely something magic about you!! I just love you.

Teena ~ Not 56 miles this week. Don't scare me like that. I just checked. I've only ran 30; so max is 42 after tomorrow's run at TOU. Wish I could see you. Miss you so so so so badly. LLL LLL LLL LLL LLL LLL
