Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Pleasant conversational run w/ Carolyn and Wendy!  There was a tense moment when we saw a pit bull running towards us dropping whatever thing he had in his mouth.  He just wanted to play w/ Sky, Carolyn's hound.  It took awhile to get rid of him.

You know it's WINTER when:  1) you can see your breath,  2) the lawn is crunchy with ice and frost,  3) it takes 3 miles to thaw your fingers and toes,  4) 10 mm pace felt like mp pace,  5) your nose runs faster than your legs,  6) the mountains turned white,  7) parents figuring out what Halloween costumes can be worn OVER the coats.

I wish I was your neighbor, I needed a push this morning! Great miles on this crisp morning!

It was cold this morning. Very Scary about the dog...I am a dog lover, it makes me so mad when owners won't control their dogs!

For those of us without garages: 8)You have to scrap your vehicle windows.

Sounds cold. I was cold here and it was 59. I would not survive as a runner in UT. I'm glad the dog just wanted to play.... scary.

That is a great winter list! Good job dealing with the pit bull. I do not do well around any dog that is big enough to cause harm.

Smooth-- I need to know where to find your core workouts. I am trying to be a real athlete instead of cutting corners. Thanks for helping me. Whenever I see that you did core circuit I am like : got to start those sometime.

"when your nose runs faster than your legs" HAHAHA!! I love it. Glad the pit bull left you alone.

From Nancy on Thu, Oct 28, 2010 at 21:54:25 from 76.27.19.206

Yes it is winter but at least there isn't too much snow on the ground. Great job with the running in the cold.

Leslie ~ Wish we were neighbors too, then we can go on hikes and trail running whenever we feel like it. I need the *push* more than you ever know! :)

Kathie ~ I like dogs. Some of the dog owners think they can let their dogs loose b/c they live in rural area. I have been lucky so far! Karen runs w/ her dog on a leash and a strap that holds the dog's jaw shut, I don't know what it's called. Anyway Sky is a great running dog. She is very playful and obedient hound. When the pit bull ran towards us, Karen dropped the leash. I guess that's in case the dog attacked, Sky could run away, it was very scary.

Jason ~ Yep, that's what my son said. His car is parked on the driveway.

Rhett ~ I like your winter better, but don't envy your summer though! :)

Amber ~ You are so cute! Thanks for the b'day wish and kudos on the GV. Happy Birthday to you too! Oct is a good month for birthdays! :)

Flat ~ Dogs that bark usually are harmless. The ones that don't and start charging at me are the ones that scare the daylight out of me.

Julie ~ Do you have Pete Pfitzinger's *Advanced Marathoning* book? It is found in chapter 4, Supplementary Training. The core stability exercises are found in p.88-93. These are very basic exercises. I think what you are doing for core and strength training is great, just be consistent with it!

Rachel ~ Runny noses aren't just for babies and toddlers, huh! :)

Nancy ~ I actually like snow. I don't even mind running in snow. It's the cold, wind, and ice that I can do without!

SSF ~ Larry bought family passes, 6 days for 6 of us! I could have spent all that money on a very nice elliptical!!! Love and miss you too!
