Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Zermatt is quite a lovely place to stay and play.  This is the 3rd year we've stayed there.  In years past I have run up that canyon passing beautiful golf courses, mountain cottages and saw lotsa deer.  This year I did not have the leisure for a long run.  I had run 12 yesterday so I decided to workout at the fitness center.

The Zermatt fitness center is awesome.  There are 6-8 treadmills, 6 ellipticals, 4 stationary bikes and a whole line of weight machines for all the muscle groups situated in front of a bank of windows facing the mountains/valleys, plus a separate room with free weights, balls, mats and other things I don't know what they're for.

I warmed up on the elliptical for 0.5 mi, ran 3 mi on the treadmill at 9:15 pace.  Then I did 30 reps at 25 lbs on all the machines.  Finished the workout with Around the World Abs.  The whole thing took me an hour.  It was just right.  We beat the game traffic both ways.  Cougars dominated the game.  What a fun day!

Awesome workout, awesome view ... sounds like it was absolutely breathtaking. Glad you had such a fantastic day (still missed you though).

Lotsa Love ... you're still my idol (stink ... I we suppose to have idols? Okay ... let's say "Hero" then)

Teena -- Sorry I didn't call you. My cell phone was in my purse which I didn't carry with me all day. As soon as I made it home I got on your blog and was so HAPPY and EXCITED to see your race report. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUSLY FAST. What a great race. Wish I was there to see you and Rylee. You and yours are my star, moon and sun...keep on shinning!!!

Hey smooth I looked for you at the game but with 65,000 other people there I guess I missed you! We are on the east side at the bottom of the B in the BYU seats. Section 33b row 29. So do you think you will get a gym membership now that you have tried a gym work out?

From Kelli on Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 15:06:33

Great job getting in a workout, and it is so pretty up there! I hope you enjoyed yourself MUCH!

Kathie -- Nice seats you had there. Are you going to the BYU/Utah game?

Yes, I'm thinking about a gym membership. Last month Gold Gym had an ad for $16 a month, I should've grabbed it. My hang up is that those gym machines are so massive and intimidating.

Kelli - yes it was very enjoyable, just what I needed after a weeklong house remodeling work.

I wish I were going to the BYU Utah game! No i will have to watch it on TV this year.

Hey if you get a golds gym membership call me and I will be your "personal trainer" for the day! Not that I know anything but it would be fun to work out with you!
