Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Between waiting for the carpet installer, cleaning, and the rainy day, I didn't go out for a run.  I had to run on the treadmill instead.  The TV reception was all messed up w/ hubby switching it to the new guest room.  So I pop in "My Best Friend's Wedding", the only one already in the DVD player and hopped on the treadmill while the carpet guy worked in the other rooms.

6 miles tempo run in 49:40.  Average pace: 8:16  Splits:  9:00, 8:20, 8:06, 8:06, 8:06, 8:06, (did 0.25 mi in 7:53 at the end).

Leaving for Houston to see my grandbabies tomorrow.  Probably won't get much running in this week.

From Kathie on Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 17:32:19

Oh I don't think I could have run while the carpet guy was there. I am not sure why I run in front of people at the gym all the time? weird?

You are so fast smooth you are going to smoke me at painters this year!

Have a fun vacation with grandbabies

p.s. I posted again on saturday too.

Mark -- I really think my treadmill is slow, even with 2& incline. Now if I can just crank out those pace on the road.

Leslie -- Thanks, I'm excited to see the grandchildren. Do your grandchildren live close by?

Kathie -- Well, the carpet guy was working so he wasn't "watching" me. I just HAVE to put in my run so that's the only way. I am a little self-conscious running in the fitness center in front of some macho macho men. Yep saw your post on Sat. thanks!

Marion -- Julia Robert is a hoot. I LOVE the scene where she was chasing Michael who was chasing Cameron Diaz. For some odd reason I love "chase" scenes, car or human chasing. FUN!!!

Dale -- Just one week, a short trip. I want to stay longer but there are other committments at home. I was just there in May and they visited here in July this year.

Good night everyone. Not sure if I'll be able to get on the blog while at my daughter's. Hope y'all have a great week.

Smooth have a great time with the grandkids. Spoil them rotton and then leave them to their parents (Isn't that the definition of a grandma?)

Nice run....I can't wait to see you at painters and see if I can keep up with you.

Have a safe trip
