Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Since we are down to one car, hubby had to drop me off.  I was supposed to meet Kelli at 7:30.  Due to my teenager's not having his act together, I got there LATE.  Sweet Kelli waited alone in her car.  THANKS Kelli for coming all the way down here and waited forever for me, ran with me and drove me home after.

The JRP was covered with 2-6 inches of fresh snow.  There were a few animal paw prints the first mile; other than that we had the trail all by ourselves.  It was cool to be first to track fresh powder until we hit the hills.   Steep hills + deep snow drifts + short legs = nonrunnable.  I don't know how Andy does it.  It was also hard to see the trail since everything was covered with snow.  A few places were "lumpy" and slippery.  If it weren't for Kelli, I would have quit.  We got a GOOD workout and that's what counts.

It was a bit windy at the top.  Definitely warmer running northward than southward.  On the south portion we saw a set of footprints with Yaktrak.  I'm glad we didn't encounter any wildlife; however Kelli's cell phone would make a better weapon than my pack of tissues.  It even scared her when it rang.  There's magic in running with a friend in the snow covered peaceful winterwonderland!!!  LOVE IT!!!

Though I posted my miles as easy miles...my legs felt otherwise.  I had soooo much fun because Kelli ran with me.  THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH, Kel!  You're the best!  Did I mention you are so stinkin' SKINNY and AWESOME?!!!!

SSF --

SO SO SO happy that you and Kelli had such a good run! :) I can totally visualize you two have the "how will defend ourselves from the wild beasts" conversation. :) Both of you AMAZE me!!!

I love you!!!

Nice work lady! You two are SO fun to be around, wish I could've made it...but I wanted to sleep :) Plus, I knew I wouldn't go the whole way so I might as well stick close to home.

Sounds like you had a great run! Those winter wonderland runs can be amazing, especially with a good friend!

No matter what challenges you face you always seem to have such a good time. I guess my long legs make the snow drifts easier to navigate.

From Kathie on Sat, Dec 12, 2009 at 23:22:17 from 63.248.105.188

Nice run...sounds a lot like mine but I wimped out at 8 miles.

From Kelli on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 00:47:54 from 71.219.95.151

NO, No, no! THANK YOU for running with me! It was an adventure for sure and a super work out! Who cares what our pace was, we were working out HARD!!!!! My legs feel like lead, glad I get the day off tomorrow. And I was lucky, I have much longer legs...crazy snow, but we conquered it.

Thanks again for meeting up with me, i am kind of helpless without my husband and so tired of running by myself and on the treadmill endlessly!

Nice run Smooth and Kelli! Wish I could have ran with yall.

From Kelli on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 11:49:45 from 71.219.95.151

It was kind of more like snow shoeing, minus the snow shoes!!! But at least it was above 20 degrees and we had company. We just needed someone to meet at us at the end with hot chocolate and muffins.

Great run. You gals did awesome. Running in the snow is one of my favorite Winter sports.

SSF -- What are you still doing up??? :)

From Smooth on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 00:58:56 from 174.23.217.47

Hey SSF!!!

Wish you were running with us! Miss you soooo much! I'm soooo happy you're running pain free and final's almost over. I LOVE YOU!!!!

Rachel ~

Kelli said you wanted to come; but it was silly to come all the way for a short run. Glad the Zofran finally gives you some relief and you went out for a run!!!

Andy ~

Seriously you are the toughest and most dedicated I ever know. The whole time while running in the snow covered hills, I kept thinking: "Andy would make this look easy! Just don't know how in the world he runs in all kinds of conditions!"

Kathie ~

It was quite an adventure! You had an awesome run.

Kelli ~

You know you're the BEST running partner EVER! Hope you're having a restful Sunday. Can't wait to run together again!

Yes, it would have been nice to have someone chauffer us and give us hot chocolate and muffin when we were done. At least I didn't have to drive home. You are the BEST!

April ~

I run solo most of the time. It really is so much fun and the miles/time just fly when you have someone to run with. Hope you find a running partner soon.

vinh ~

Anytime you're in town; you're welcome to join us.

Twinkies ~

I enjoy running in the snow. 20 degrees was NICE too! I'm not as talented as you in finding sure footings though. You're an AWESOME trail runner and AMAZING "mountain goat". I read about your runs and am so envious!

Bec ~

Where were you running on Sat.? I though I saw you heading south on Center St. Sat. morning. Are you excited about skiing? Prez. can hardly wait to hit the slope!

From Smooth on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 01:01:12 from 174.23.217.47

From Teena on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 01:03:42 from 174.52.45.85

Waiting for you to get online so that I can chat with my SSF!!! :)

Seriously, just winding down for the evening and decided to check the blog for a minute.

From Smooth on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 01:17:14 from 174.23.217.47

Seriously we are soul sisters...on-line at the same time!

I don't want to get you in trouble! We better go to bed!

Do you want to go to the temple on Thursday? What time are you done with finals? Miss you soooo much!

From Teena on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 01:21:04 from 174.52.45.85

Unfortunately I have to go straight from my final to work :( and won't be done until 3:30-4ish. :( :( :(

Okay ... going to bed.

May the bed bugs kiss you. :)

From Smooth on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 01:24:11 from 174.23.217.47
