Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

 

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!! 

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Have never done this before, I think I like doing recovery run after long run.

Way to go smooth! You are going to be so speedy at painters this year. I read on the web site that they are going to use chip timing this year. That will be so much better than last years finish line fiasco!

Kathie -- Good to hear they're going to have chips this year. I made that suggestion to them last year at the finish. I haven't signed up yet. Guess I better get on it.

Sorry you didn't get the miles in yesterday. The storm came in a little earlier than expected with awful awful fierce and cold wind. I was glad that I got the long run in on Friday.

Davy -- Thanks. It just sounds like a long way when I tell people I run to the temple.

Teena -- The concert was fabulous. The MoTab, OTS and Mack really know how to put on a world class show. Brian Stokes Mitchell is amazing. He has a warm personality with a broad voice range and very entertaining. He's almost as cute as Denzel. My hubby got me a signed autograph from him and from Edward Hermann. I really miss watching my Bryan though.

You guys are SO FUNNY with the NATURAL talents! I have no clue what I am doing, I just run. I just want to lose weight, that is all it is about for me!!!

Which book are you following again, I forgot? I should read a book about running and try to follow some kind of plan. If I am going to spend all of this time running, I should try to at least improve a little, right?

Look at the pace you've been running lately!!! Holy cow! and you have IT issue, not to mention a busy family life. And I LOVE your running form.

The weight loss thing is gonna come. You did it when training for St. George, right and BQ too? Didn't you use any training schedule?

The book I'm following is "Advanced Marathoning" by Pete Pfitzinger. I wish I had a real life coach to tell me what to do. You see, at my age, there's little room for error but lotsa room for improvement.

We run with a group twice a week and they are pretty darn smart and know what they are doing. I read stuff online, and I have read some books but it is all so darn complicated. I like to just run!!!
