Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran w/ Karen (Sky) and Wendy to Alpine.  Took it slow.  Sore legs.  A little concern about the knee pain.

Julie, a friend of 40 years, called from Hong Kong.  (We are still on the phone as I type this).  For more than 3 hours we cried, laughed, cried while she poured her heart out to me.  I feel the pain of her loneliness across the world.  She is teaching me so much.  I shall live my life more worthy of the blessings I've been given.

It is great that you keep in touch with a friend so far away and for such a long time. Great job with the run.

Sorry about your knee pain. With all the miles you do, if you take it a little slow, just like you are doing, you may find out it goes away. That is a benefit of being fit. Love your new pics, by the way.

Love that you can talk to old friends...I hope the phone bill will not be too much!

SSF ~ YES! Party time! :) I'm in awe of all the wonderful things you do!

Nancy ~ Julianna and I were converts & baptized into the church in HK in 1971. We were 14, 15 years old. I came to America 2 years later and she's the only friend who remained in touch all these years. She's a loyal friend. Her husband passed away 18 months ago. I so wish that I could be there for her.

Flat ~ I think my knee rebelled b/c I ran way too much the last two weeks and then proceeded to run hills...not very smart.

Kathie ~ My friend, Julianna, was/is the one that initiates the long distance calls. The amazing thing is she only speaks Cantonese and I only speak English. Somehow we understand each other. And because we don't talk often, the calls are always very very long, mostly of her speaking and updating me on hers and our HK friends' lives. Mine was always the same old same old so I just listened.

Paul ~ I needed times like these to learn from my friends, valuable life lessons. Good to be reminded of so many things that I took for granted!

Rhett ~ Thanks! I had a hunch (prompting) to call her...so glad she did! I think we saved each other's lives, literally!
