Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

The family decided not to go skiing today because the snow condition was less than ideal.  Slept in and was so glad to get a text from Karen.  Ran a mile to meet her then we ran up to Highland crossing SR92.  We ran inside the Highland Cemetery where we stopped at the Veteran's memorial and looked at the stature: "Help for the Future" by Dennis Smith.  The story behind that stature is so AWESOME.  So glad Karen told me about it because there's no plague or description for it.  We then ran on the trail parallel SR92 and back to her home.  Perfect T with a little of sun and gentle breeze.  NICE run and chat about our Christmases.

I sent in the registration for UVM.

YEAH for a beautiful run! Sorry you could not go skiing, though!

From RAD on Tue, Dec 27, 2011 at 20:25:47 from 98.202.23.178

I'm going to try to go skiing tomorrow, well, take the kids while I sit with the baby and watch all day :( I've heard conditions are kind of rough. I'm sick of looking at all this brown! I want snow too!! Especially now that I can't run anyway :)

Your run sounds lovely. Good run, good company, good weather. It's because you're such a good lady!

From JulieC on Tue, Dec 27, 2011 at 21:24:06 from 67.41.188.93

hey I want to run UVM too!! but I am supposed to watch myself...no FOUR marathons in less than four months scenario before SGM again....BUT I want to DEFEND my TITLE!! Blah. Just maybe it would be okay since I won't run Eiluj or TOU. The weather was finally sweet for a late morning run!! great you got out there. The snow conditions for skiers (my family, included) is depressing!!

From Teena Marie on Tue, Dec 27, 2011 at 21:30:13 from 174.27.201.172

I am glad that you enjoyed your run (sorry about the skiing though).

Ready for the New Year?? :)

It sounds like you got the best of both worlds, sleeping in and then running.

From Smooth on Wed, Dec 28, 2011 at 00:25:29 from 75.162.95.99

Kelli, RAD, Teena ~ we need some new snow badly! My family always go skiing the week between the holidays. I feel bad for them since it is the only time they could go! They are going tomorrow and Thurs regardless of the lack of snow though!

RAD ~ which resort are you going? If you are at Solitude, I will come see you! :)

QP ~ thanks! You say the nicest things!

Julie ~ You should run UVM! sign up now before the price goes up after Dec 31. YES! You can and will defend your title! :)

Nancy ~ yep! Sounds like you were able to take advantage of both today as well! :)
