Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

compression and stretching! don't let your shins turn into a mess like mine :)

nice recovery this week.

other than the bothersome shins, it sounds like your recovery is coming along great. Don't forget the RICE on those shins!

From Smooth on Wed, May 25, 2011 at 16:01:36 from 67.2.121.30

allie & slick ~ THANKS for the kind reminder. I will take rest days the next few days since I will be traveling.

Isn't your R the one that had the worst problems at Ogden? It may be leftover lactic acid from the cramping? Definitely get that stretching in! Enjoy your travels, just do it safely.

Now, go to http://www.pcmarathon.com/ and register already! If it fills and I don't get to run it with you I will probably just stop at the uphill loop and cry :(

I need to get me some socks that I can run in. I have some compression socks but not for running. Do you think they really help? Are they worth the purchase?

From RivertonPaul on Thu, May 26, 2011 at 13:15:22 from 67.42.27.114

Do get some recovery. Your body will thank you. Happy travels.

I hope you are traveling safe and that the move goes well! Kiss that baby for me!

You sure do recover from running a marathon I lot faster than I did when I ran a marathon. Nice job.

Rachel ~ I'll get on it when I get back to UT next week! No worries, PCM is Larry's fav. He won't let me forget!

Annie ~ I don't wear compression socks! I like my Asics Hera low-cut socks! since I change/wash my socks everyday, it's not practical to wear compression socks. I use compression sleeves for the lower legs! I ran with them all summer last year! I think they help reduce muscle fatigue.I have heard that they help with recovery so that is what I am doing!

I'm going to wear them at UVM, hopefully NO Charlie horse!

paul ~ yes, I need to take recovery seriously!

kathie ~ am having so much fun with Emi! last time I was in DES Moines was when she was born! Can't believe she is now 2. She is so smart, when I asked her where we are now, she said Iwowa! Hope she will be good for Larry and I when we babysit her tomorrow night while her parents go to the reception and dinner for the graduates and their spouses! Have never babysit in a hotel before, will be interesting! Oh yah I will kiss her extra for you! :) :) :)

Nancy ~ Speaking of marathon, when/what is your next marathon?
