Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Can't believe it's been a week since Boston.  How time flies!  A year ago this time I was on my way to see my new grandbaby in Texas.  I can't wait to see and hold my new grandbaby in Iowa.  These two baby-cousins were both due on May 10, a year apart.  In years to come, I'll have to take them to Boston to celebrate their birthdays and to cheer their Nana!!!

A beautiful morning for a run, a bit on the cool side, perfect race weather.  T.35 sunny, slight breeze, wore l/s top and condition tights.  Ran same route as Sat.  Felt great.

Ran 3 miles with Mary, Wendy & Beth, then 2.5 solo.  Mary and Beth will run their first marathon if they win the SGM lottery.  Wendy is in via the Runner Series.  All three just started their training last week.   They had a zillion questions about Boston.  So fun to recap and get them excited about marathoning.

What a gorgeous day.  Wore s/s shirt and shorts, a bit chilly running north with the breeze; but perfect once warmed up.  After 1.8 miles of warm up around the block, I hit the hills.  It felt good to run the hills and thought about the Newton Hills.  After the run, I walked 0.25 mile for recovery.  I'm gonna walk after every key workout and stretch frequently.  I think that's the key to muscle recovery.

6.5 miles in 56:15.  AP: 8:39.  Splits:  9:11, 8:41, 8:01 (downhill), 8:18, 8:47, 9:00, (0.5 mile @ 8:30)

Another beautiful day!  Ran west to 16thWest about 2.4 mile and up onto the Murdock Canal Trail.  I haven't run on this trail since last Fall.  The water level in the canal is medium as it hasn't got any snow run off yet.  It was nice going east with the snow-caped mountains against a clear blue sky.  The trail is about 2.75 mile long, easy on the joints and keep me from running too fast.  The legs started to feel the residual of the marathon during the last mile.  I will take a rest day tomorrow.  Walked and stretched.  Made a protein smoothie with tropical fruits and blue berries, yum!

THANKS Rachel and JonA for coming out to run with me!!!!

Yesterday, I was on my feet from 4-10:30 pm helping with the wedding reception.  We  had everything all set up nicely outside; then came the rain, gathered everything inside, then took everything back out again 'cause the rain stopped for about 45 min.   Then back inside again 'cause the rain came and never let up.  It was a lot of fun seeing so many friends.   Too bad we couldn't enjoy the lovely garden.

I could not fall asleep.  My back was killing me.  My feet were okay 'cause I wore "grandma shoes".  I dozed off for 2 hrs at the most.  I got to the JRP at 6:10 am and thought everyone had left or didn't come.  To my surprise, Rachel, JonA, my neighbors, Wendy, John, their daughter Stephanie, Beth and Mary were there waiting.   THANKS everyone for braving the rain and waited for me.  We missed jun, Marion, Maurine and LuzyLew, Kelli and Scott.

JonA, John R., Rachel and I started out together; then the two guys dropped us.  John turned around to go home leaving Jon alone to speed up the hills like nothing.  He caught us on the way back to the car.  The three of us ran south for another couple miles; then Jon turned around to leave.

Rachel was the best running partner.  She was so positive.  I did not like the wind and rain.  Our clothes, socks and shoes were dripping wet.  I felt cold only when we stopped running.  We saw flocks of pelican, black cows and their babies, a mule and one skunk.  Rachel has trained and worked so hard.  She is a talented runner.  I have no doubt she is ready for Ogden and will run a fantastic time.

My Garmin was dead.  So I'm copying off Rachel's.  16 miles.  AP: 9:02.  Splits: 8:49, 8:44, 8:33, 9:45 (hills), 9:15, 9:08, 9:16, 9:08, 9:10, 9:00, 8:48, 8:58, 9:03, 8:58, 9:08, 8:47.

Driving home I saw a 5K race in progress right on the road in front of my house.  So I got out and cheered and ran some with them.  I heard about this race last night from a friend.  She "forbade" me from entering this race saying:  "You can't run this because I want to win it."  Darn!

Busy getting set up for Stake Conference, hosting the dinner.  I had to miss my nephew's baby funeral.  It is also my son's Prom day/night .  I am feeling happily tired!
