Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Didn't sleep well last night.  Had a training meeting at Temple Square this morning.  Got home in the afternoon, ate a big lunch, was very sleepy.  The weather forecast said it would rain/snow tomorrow.  So rather than take a nap which would ruin my sleep tonight, I changed into running clothes and went out for a hilly run.  I was over dressed.  Took off the jacket 1.5 mile into the run.  Legs were sluggish at first.  Turned around at mile 3 and sprinted up the 1.5 mile hill.  Felt good running uphill and good steady pace throughout.

6 miles in 56:56.  AP: 9:29  Splits: 9:46, 9:23, 9:42, 9:02, 9:32, 9:28.

***My Boston "racing wardrobe" arrived from Adidas this afternoon.  I LOVE the jacket.  The neon yellow shirt is awesome.  The fabric is soft and stretchy.  The color is very vibrant.  Hubby should be able to spot me unless thousand others are wearing the same yellow shirts. The adiStar split shorts is a bit too short.  I think I will exchange the shorts for something more modest.  I am getting SO excited for Boston!!! ***

I was just barely dragging up the hills and you were SPRINTING for 1.5 miles...wow girl, you amaze me everyday. I just replied on my site, but I'd love to meet you Sat at 7 for a good 16-17; I'll follow your pace, I'm just there for the miles and company :)

Did you say Lehi is hosting an Easter 5k? Smooth, give me details...we have to do this one.

From Smooth on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 12:31:42 from 71.36.78.130

I saw a "sandwich board" sign by the corner at the Jr. High advertising an Easter run. I'll check into this and let you know. 5K's are out of my comfort zone. I have a hard time plopping down the bucks to run at puke zone around the city that I run everyday.

From Kathie on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 13:05:39 from 207.155.176.10

Great run! I am sure I would have napped.

From Smooth on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 13:10:49 from 71.36.78.130

Bec,

The city website listed the 5K "Chasing the Hare" on Sat. April 11 from 2-3pm start line at the legacy center. No other details. I'll check the chamber site and see if anything there.

FUN, I am going to talk Kelly into this race. FUN! I have to find some ears!

From Smooth on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 13:39:39 from 71.36.78.130

Jon, you'll be the fast bunny there!!!

From Bec on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 13:41:34 from 205.123.38.98

I agree with you Smooth. Who said I was going to pay? It's a great way to get some VO2 max miles and warm up those fast-twitch muscles in time for Boston.

From Smooth on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 13:52:47 from 71.36.78.130

I've never run as a bandit...hmm a bandit bunny. You'll be the cutest fastest bandit bunny. My fast-twitch muscles have been dormant...ah, make that DEAD...for over a decade now. :-D

From MarcE on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 23:31:31 from 206.225.68.108

Smooth -- I received my Addidas jacket today. I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed. There's a small silk-screened BAA logo on the front, and that's it. No big embroidered patches, or BOSTON 2009 down the sleeve..I really loved out jackets from last year (I wear mine daily). I'm bummed that Image Impact isn't participating this year. What jacket did you end up getting? It sounds like you're happy with your order. I might return mine and get something I like better at the expo.

From Smooth on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 00:49:20 from 71.36.85.29

Marc,

Larry says the same thing. The Image jacket is more "substantial", more pockets, decals, hidden hood and the embroidered works. I do like the Image jacket better. The little bit of black makes it nice to match anything.

I'm like the Adidas jacket 'cause it's light enough that I can wear it on cold runs. But I'm with you, $90 is overpriced for a simple looking jacket. I didn't see any other choice for Boston jacket though, did I miss something? I guess I'll see if there's something I like better at the expo too.
