Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

My feet are killing me!!!!  I was in heels (only 1.5") all day yesterday.  I even ran on the streets of Salt Lake to make it to WICKED.  I wish I could wear my running shoes to meetings, temple, shopping, wedding and the broadway show.  But people already had to look "down" at me with my 4'10.5" frame.  Sigh!  Vanity won over sanity!

I just had to test my feet to see if I could run.  I thought I was running slow.  About mile 3.5 my left knee and right calf started to complain.  Yikes!!!  I hope all these little ailments go away in 10 days.

Maybe you should take the weekend off from running so you won't have any lingering issues for Boston.

From Smooth on Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 13:28:00 from 70.56.102.54

It was hard taking yesterday off from running. Probably why I ran too fast this morning. I'll see how my "wheels" feel tonight and in the morning; I think I should be good to run an easy 12 miler. I don't want to miss all the fun you guys will have. It's more painful to NOT run than run with pain. CRAZY, I know!

Hey I am going to see Wicked on the 22nd! I can't wait!!!!! I wore 6 inch heels to the wedding so I was 6'3" with them on!

From sarah on Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 13:40:02 from 192.168.1.1

I wear my skechers everywhere because I have to wear orthodics. I haven't worn heels to a wedding or the temple for years :)

Kathie,

Wow, no wonder people look "up" to you!!! I bet you looked gorgeous. Did you dance at the wedding? You need to post pictures of you besides your son and bride. You will absolutely LOVE Wicked. It was the best musical ever!

Sarah,

Do sketchers come in size 5? I have looked high and low for comfortable dress shoes. The smallest I've found are in size 6.

My mom is vertically challenged and wears size 5 shoes too! I think she wears SAS brand shoes and as far as I know she's never had a problem finding them. I can ask her if you want. :)

From Smooth on Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 14:21:44 from 70.56.102.54

Vertically challenged, LOVE IT!!!

Cool! What is SAS brand shoes?

THANKS! Sarah, you and Sasha are the most genuinely kind and caring people. You are loved and admired more than you ever know.

our stinky vanity!! Hopefully it was just the heels yesterday and tomorrow your 'wheels' will feel much more comfortable in your running shoes and with lots of other RHPCs around :) If you don't feel up to the run, just come at 9 and eat and play :)

From Bec on Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 16:29:58 from 67.177.35.60

I hope that you are feeling better after the "heel" run. How was WICKED? That is so exciting that you got to go that. I am jealous. Take care of those little feet, and I will see you tomorrow.

Smooth, my day off yesterday did wonders for me. Rest those feet. I feel so much better, and I think following your example and heading to the temple last night for some spiritual training was good for me too.
