Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

It's like family reunion!  So GOOD to see Leslie, RAD, TomSlick, Maynard and Kathie this morning for our last run together before Boston.  Leslie looks SO cute and trim.  RAD does not even look pregnant and her baby is due in two months.  Slick looks slim and same patriotic handsome self.  Maynard and Kathie must have lost at least 5 lbs since I saw them couple weeks ago.   Thanks Maynard for programming my Garmin so I could get the mile splits!

I wore all the stuff I plan to wear at Boston, new shorts, shirts, socks, semi-new shoes, even new bra.  Brrr, it was cold at the start, 34F, no wind until we hit mile 5 where we encountered head wind AND uphill.  Not only did I draft off Kathie on the dirt trail along the rail road at the point of the mountain; she was my sherpa sharing her water and gel-chews with me at mile 6 turn-around.  Those gel-chews were GOOD!!!  When we ran under the pedestrian tunnel, I hollered out a choochoo, love how it echoes.  :)  Must be something in the gel-chew!

Made it back to the park where I decided to finish with a Half to honor RAD who will be running the SLC 1/2 next Sat!  She brought a buffet of fresh delish oranges, muffins and chocolate milk.  THANKS RAD!  You sure know how to do a run-party!  We miss you, Leslie,  where'd you go after the run?

Kathie, the yoga queen, showed us a few yoga moves.  Seriously, I wish I had a camera!  She did the crow and then head/hand stand like it's nothing, not to mention all these pretzel poses.  What an AMAZING acrobat!!!  I tried to do the pigeon and got a charlie horse instead...pathetic.

13.11 in 1:55:18.  AP: 8:47.  Splits:  9:37, 9:23, 8:52, 9:10, 8:59, 9:24, 8:23, 8:26, 8:29, 8:38, 8:29, 8:19, 8:21, 0.11 mi @ 7:03.

THANKS everyone for such a FUN run!  Sure love my running family!  :)

Good run with the fam today Smooth. I can't believe that Boston is really here! When are you flying out? PR PR PR PR! Do you have your Boston outfit already? That black track jacket was my favorite out of the selection. Anything you choose to wear you will look amazing in.

Bec ~ We fly out on Friday red-eye and arrived at Boston around 10am. We have already planned all the fun stuff we'll be doing there.

Yep, wore my Boston wardrobe and wore it this morning. I love the teal and black combo. Even my shoes and socks are teal, matchy matchy! Wish you were going to Boston this year.

allie ~ THANKS! I feel like I've trained the best I could. I would be ecstatic if I PR,,,if not, I will be just as happy b/c I get to run it with friends and enjoy the whole Boston experience!

Yo Smooth, Thanks for the early morning run, it was great. I wish I would have got up and ran it with you but It seemed to be more comfortable to hang with the prego RAD and have a fun run. Lets all do it again when you get back from Boston as we get ready for UVM. You are ready for Boston, you've got 10 days till showtime, don't do anything stupid and mess it up!!!!! Take a break, do a couple more easy 4 to 6 milers with your last 2 miler on Wednesday and then on wednesday start your carb load.If you must run again do a 2 mile very easy shake down run on Sunday...

You crack me up! Choo-Choo! What did Kathie put in those Gel-chews? You are so ready for a PR this year--you've done mega miles for mega months! See ya soon.

From RivertonPaul on Sat, Apr 10, 2010 at 23:09:53 from 75.169.11.31

Great running party.

From RAD on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 00:29:27 from 67.172.229.125

I ALMOST tried to keep up with you :) However, the nice jaunt with Slick and "chatty" Maynard was plenty effort for me, you and Kathie are just super speedy ladies!

Remember, don't try anything new (again) before Boston. NO cramping! You are going to kill your PR - I know it! No doubts here, remember the good advice "it all starts in the mind!"

From Maynard on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 00:47:00 from 71.213.42.198

Sounds like I missed the real show--the Yoga poses the refreshments. Dang! Oh well.

Thanks for the invite! I would have ended up doing only 7 or so miles--alone--had you not. You guys are awesome.

And what's this? I'm chatty and crazy? I think somebody is poking fun... ;)

From DonGardinero on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 00:49:00 from 75.162.170.49
