Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Another beautiful day!  Ran west to 16thWest about 2.4 mile and up onto the Murdock Canal Trail.  I haven't run on this trail since last Fall.  The water level in the canal is medium as it hasn't got any snow run off yet.  It was nice going east with the snow-caped mountains against a clear blue sky.  The trail is about 2.75 mile long, easy on the joints and keep me from running too fast.  The legs started to feel the residual of the marathon during the last mile.  I will take a rest day tomorrow.  Walked and stretched.  Made a protein smoothie with tropical fruits and blue berries, yum!

7 miles in 1:04:50.  AP: 9:16.  Splits: 9:44, 9:09, 8:58, 9:03, 9:13, 9:18, 9:22

Dale,

You are welcome to run with me anytime. You'd be a great running partner. I'm lucky to live here with lots of great running routes.

I thought Thursday was your rest day? What no meeting, lunch or family get together to prepare for...I guess compared to some of your other thursdays this was a rest day.

From Smooth on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 17:59:39 from 71.36.87.147

Kathie,

We went to the temple last night, so no temple today. We canceled our meeting this morning b/c of upcoming Stake Conference and some of the ladies are going to the BYU Women's Conference. I'm loving it!

Tomorrow I get to help a friend with her daughter's wedding so no running.

What a beautiful run :)

I think blue berries taste like dirt. I think I may have a genetic defect.

YOu are at almost 800 miles in 4 freaking months! I do like that protein powder! So where are you running Sat.? It is fun to see what everyones plans are. Looks like I am doing trails with Harold and Gary, yippee!!!

Have fun helping with the wedding tomorrow, eat a chocolate eclair for me and a nut cup, oh, and some punch with sherbet ice cream, okay?

From Smooth on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 18:42:56 from 71.36.87.147

Leslie,

I didn't realize I was that close to 800 miles so far this year. Cool!

My friend ordered a ton of mini pastries from Kneaders. She is one creative and organized woman. She has built this gorgeous garden in her yard over a period of 10 years. They have 6 daughters and their receptions are splendid. I am so excited I get to help, actually more like play.

Sat. Rachel is meeting with me to run on the Lehi JRP. What trails are you doing on Sat.?

From leslie on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 18:46:01 from 76.23.61.78

a garden reception sounds fun!

Our plan is Corner Canyon/Bonneville Shoreline Trail. I would like to see if I can find a trail that comes down into Highland/Alpine area and come over for tea and bisquits at your house.

From Smooth on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 19:14:24 from 71.36.87.147

Hey Leslie,

I once saw on google earth, a trail just west of the Suncrest Rd. that mountain bikers use. It does end up on the foothills of Highland/Alpine. I've always wanted to explore that trail but afraid of boogie man.

From leslie on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 19:36:55 from 76.23.61.78

I think that is the Shoreline trail, or part of the Corner Canyon trail system, I need to explore it too! Maybe would could figure out one day and meet in the middle.

Saturday at 6 is great with me! Nice job getting those beautiful miles in...I'm so glad happy nice weather has finally decided to stay a while. Hopefully we can get a good Saturday run in for once :)

From Smooth on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 23:04:35 from 71.36.87.147

Leslie,

I'd like that.

Rachel,

It might be raining on Sat. But remember we are water-proof-nut'n-gonna-stop-us-RHPC-crazy runners. See you on Sat. Have a safe flight home.

Hey Smoothie,

Hope you stuck with the plan and are taking a rest day today.

Love you!!
