Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

HELP!!!!  I just checked the Ogden website and found that they had a bib# list...I am NOT on that list.  When I checked their on-line-registration verification a couple months ago, I did not see my name there either.  I emailed them an inquiry and never got an answer.

I mailed in the registration form along with the registration fee (to take advantage of the Grand Slam discount) on Dec 15, 2009.  My bank record shows that they have cashed my check on Dec 23.  I just emailed them.   Hope they get it and will straighten things out.  I am in a panic!   STINK!!!  What to do?

Update:  Called Ogden and only got the voice machine.  I am sure they are swamped and busy with last min. race prep!  Finally got a very short email reply:  "You are in our system."  Whatever that means!  No explanation, no signature.  Guess I will "arm" myself with a copy of the canceled check and that email when I go to pick up my packet on Fri.  I hope they will have a bib# and chip for me because I don't want any refund.  You'd think that 5 months is enough time for them to input a few mail-in registrations.  Sigh!

Recovery run w/ Carolyn.  AP: 9:23.  My arms are sore from yesterday's weights workout!  I will run 5 w/ a few strides tomorrow and EZ 4 on Fri.

Oh no I hope it all works out, I am sure if they cashed your check you should get in.

From Bec on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 00:56:12 from 76.23.55.210

It will work out. I noticed you weren't on the SG marathon list either.. maybe I was looking in the wrong place?

From Smooth on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 01:14:36 from 174.23.172.155

Bec ~ I am not on the SGM list. Kami Ellsworth emailed me and said I'm IN. So I am going to make a copy of that email to proof that she says so.

Kathie ~ I hope it works out too. I have a copy of the check that GOAL foundation has indeed deposited my check. Why is this happening to me?!!! Such a hassle!!! STINKY STINK STINK!

From DonGardinero on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 02:06:24 from 152.216.7.5

Smoothie, what is going on here? Too bad they already cashed the check or I'd say run TOU instead.

I keep checking the SGM site for your name and it never comes up. Alisa's name doesn't come up, either.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything gets fixed.

From DonGardinero on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 02:07:12 from 152.216.7.5

Perhaps you should give them a call tomorrow. You may never get a reply to your email this close to the marathon

From timp on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 09:12:26 from 144.189.100.25

good luck figuring all this out Smooth - that is very frustrating for sure

From KP on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 09:18:41 from 65.208.22.26

hopefully you'll get some good news on this soon!

From Huans32 on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 09:26:31 from 138.64.8.52

Wow you serious?? That is not good. I am sure you will get it worked out. Its just one of those things you really dont want to have to figure out a few days before the race.

From Andy on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 09:54:45 from 198.60.114.178

This is stress that you should not have to deal with days before a marathon. Hopefully they will correct their mistake. I can't imagine them not letting you in since they made the error of not entering your application.

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 11:25:43 from 24.16.49.114

Smooth: You are in...don't fret...if they cashed your check it's all a matter of working things out.

When I went to register for my recent half, my name wasn't on the list even though I had emailed the director and he confirmed that I was good to go.

They took care of it...make sure to take a copy of the cashed check...relax Sister!

From flatlander on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 12:12:48 from 198.207.244.102

Sure hope this is worked out by now. If not I would definitely call them, make them talk to you. They might want a fax of your cancelled check.

From Calvin on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 13:23:06 from 66.133.117.3

i've had terrible luck getting timely email responses from the Ogden folks. i hope they get back to you soon to put your mind at ease.

From JulieC on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 13:52:49 from 70.56.108.37

NO worries. don't waste the adrenaline. It will all workout espec. since they cashed the check!! : DDDDD

From RAD on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 14:11:04 from 67.172.229.125

What is with all this bad luck you're having with not getting your name on the lists?!? I wonder if it's a Grand Slam thing or what? UGGGHHH!!! I hope that you get it worked out quickly and smoothly! I would be calling anyone and everyone to do with anything and getting it taken care of!! I'm SO sorry about the hassle you seem to keep running into :(

From auntieem on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 14:25:03 from 24.18.77.246

Well, if they have your money, they have to let you run. Being a race director myself, I can assure you that they may not always be perfectly organized (there is a lot to do!), but they are usually very nice people and they like runners. Good luck getting it all sorted out.

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 15:10:49 from 174.52.45.85

They said you were in their system though, right? I'm assuming this was posted before our phone conversation.

I love you!!!

No wasting precious energy on stressing out.

From MrsFIT on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 15:46:39 from 205.127.241.18

"Hakuna matata" Smoothie, you're in.

From Smooth on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 15:48:41 from 174.23.172.155

THANKS everyone for calming my frazzled self!!! Yes, I did get a short email respond...see update! You guys/gals are the BEST!

I think SGM and Ogden races have gotten so big that paper registrations become a pain. I can see how easily they neglect these few mail-in registrations.

UVM was top-notch in their communication. Not only did Hyrum responds to emails immediately, he sent me a form that enabled me to have double discounts, for being Grand Slam participant and a Boston qualifier. Then as soon as he received the registration, he sent me a confirmation email. On top of it all, his marathon is non-profit.

I am going to register for Park City within a week. PCM has an option for Grand Slammer with their on-line registration. Hopefully I won't have this kinda worry again.

From Rhett on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 16:07:59 from 184.10.154.170

Ditto everyone else.

On a different note, no more weights until after Ogden.

From Smooth on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 16:12:21 from 174.23.172.155

Rhett ~ YES sir! No more weights until after Ogden. My arms are noodles!!!

From RAD on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 19:42:06 from 67.172.229.125

With those guns you built yesterday on the weights you can now duke it out with them if they don't have a bib or chip for you! :) I'll tag in if you need some backup!

From RivertonPaul on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 20:32:15 from 97.184.199.142

It is because they know you are married to Pres. and they know who he works for. See you Saturday.

From auntieem on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 21:08:26 from 24.18.77.246

Sounds like the problem is solved! Or at least close enough that you can sleep at night?

From Smooth on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 21:16:08 from 174.23.172.155

Paul ~ Too funny! You know what? Larry teased me about wearing the Ogden shirt with its sponsor plastered all over it. He and the Zion's folks are very nice to each other with friendly rivalry! :)

Auntie ~ I didn't know you're a race director. I think that's a thankless job, truly a labor of love. I'm hopeful the problem is solved. I never got to talk to anybody though.

From Kelli on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 22:36:38 from 71.219.75.178

That is crazy, but I think they can not argue with the canceled check in hand!

HAVE FUN and best of luck to you!

From Doone on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 23:52:18 from 184.10.154.170

I think it odd that stuff like this keeps happening to you. In Boston you were missing your event tickets. Luckily you are a spunky one and won't take no for an answer. All will be well. Don't stress.

From Smooth on Thu, May 13, 2010 at 00:17:12 from 174.23.172.155

Doone ~ I had forgotten about that missing tickets from my Boston packet. Hmmm, that makes 3 bloopers by the race organizers. Hopefully 3's the charm and no more mishaps here on out! :)

Things always work out...yes...no stress!

Kelli ~ Hi there! I miss you! You know me...I do not like conflicts.

Ogden won't be half as fun without you!

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, May 13, 2010 at 01:59:47 from 75.162.69.51

Your arms are sore, so that is a good sign. Nice work with the weights. I'm sure you will be fine for Ogden and I'm really excited to see how you do.

From Tom Slick on Thu, May 13, 2010 at 09:47:34 from 168.179.157.104

chill out Smooth, just show up and get your bib and run their lights out. Just wait, Kurts races are just begining and you know how screwed up he is.

From LuzyLew on Thu, May 13, 2010 at 15:27:22 from 208.187.197.42

Bring that cashed check. Period and once you are there TALK to someone. Go early enough you can find someone in charge ! It will be ok, I know it will!
